New "Charlie Mike " Knife

I had Matt Freeman "Charlie Mike" make me a small fixed blade and had a great experience with him. The communication was superb he sent pictures of every stage of the process and stayed in touch through out the build. The full tang blade is Carbon V steel with Titanium pins and canvas Micarta handle material. 7 inches overall length. 4 and a half inch blade and 2 and 3/4 inch handle. Love the grind it's a chisel grind with a secondary bevel. Came absolutely razor sharp. Drop point with a nice fat belly. At first I thought the handle was a bit short but once I put it in my hand it felt completely natural. Great ergonomics. Came with a custom Kydex sheath and a great price. I have used it to break down cardboard, feather some sticks, chopped some about 4 inch limbs and even batoned some locust firewood to see how it would perform and it had no problem with this while remaining razor sharp. the pictures do not do justice to the grind. Thank you Matt for an exceptional knife.

Is the chisel grind Charlie Mike's preference/signature grind? I saw that on his GAW not too long ago. Is it very slicey?
 
The knife looks awesome. The handle definitely looks shorter and stubbier than I'd expect for the blade. Update us when you've gotten to use it some more. I'm always interested in unique knife designs and how they work out in actual use. Either way, that's a unique and beautiful piece. :thumbup:
 
I love that choil. A good delibrate choil really stands out to me and adds character to the blade. Congrats on the new knife!
 
I guess the chisel grind has become my thing... that and a 1/4" sharpening choil. Glad you are using it!

They cut like maniacs and are easy to sharpen the only thing with them is the non presentation side is quite often unspectacular to look at and throws people off!
