New Chef with Lisch Damascus

Just finished up a damascus Chef knife using some of David Lisch's awesome mosaic damascus. Got to show off my handle first:

Dave's damascus is very clean and he really does a nice job with the patterns.

What do you call this pattern, Dave? Any fancy name for it like "shop rat scat" or something?

So, Dave, how many more of these do you want to make? And, we should start raising our prices pretty soon too. Can't let Kramer have all the fun now can we?

Mike, Fine looking kitchen utensil! Nice looking presentation box to. Not bad for a young kid. :D That's one tight pattern Mister Lisch came up with. The first thing that came to mind as a name for this pattern is "Migraine aura". The damascus made me think of what I start seeing when I'm first come down with a migraine. To bad it isn't rainbow colored. Maybe that's a flashback from the Early 70's.
 
"Flashback" or Psychodelic would be good names too. what's the length and what's the cost on them currently? I sometimes wish I had become a chef. but I'd end up spending all my money on fancy knives AND be 400+lbs!

Mike, that is one beautiful piece of kitchen jewelry. Dave's damascus is uh well I don't know, I'm at a loss for words. Their you go, that's what I'd call the damascus "Speechless". Great job you two.
 
Nice stuff. I keep looking at your signature handle with the perfectly layered wood in complex curves and as a wood worker it hurts my mind to think of fitting those so seamlessly.

I love the damascus pattern and especially how it tightens up as it climbs into the bolster.. Really fun to look at.

Flashback it is Thanks Dago Red the last thing I want to think about when I am cooking is "Shop Rat Scat very funny Mike let me name the damascus from now no. thank you Lorien stuart Mike Q and Ray for your thoughts and input.
 
That IS incredible. BEAUTIFUL pattern in the damascus and the handle looks great. Looking at it makes me WANT one!

She asked me "Are you sure it's a real thing and not just a photoshop picture?"

I would call the steel "Hallucinagenic Grade Damascus"
If you look at for a couple minutes your eyes go out of focus and you begin to hallucinate.
I'm not going to say what I saw because you might think I'm crazy.....or just a bit weird.

This gets my vote, but I liked, "flashback" as well.

And damn it Snody, that's just not... well, I guess it was kinda funny. Got to love Kramer... Both of them :-)

Thanks for your compliments, guys. Dave and I work together pretty well, and... can I tell them, Dave?

... well, he didn't give me the okay yet, but I'll tell you anyway: we will be doing a WIP of him making the damascus and forging the blade, we'll heat-treat it, then we'll got to my shop and do the finish work and put on the handle of our next one. You'll see it right here sometime this Summer. Should be fun.
