I have caught up to the point that I had time to start something that I wanted to do for the hell of it. I have been wanting to make a chopper based off of some old butcher knife designs and the knife of one of Jim Bowie's companions, but with modern flavor this is what I came up with.

Specs are:
Blade: .25" thick 5160 spring steel, 9.5" long and a little more than 2.25" wide at its widest, differential Heat treat
Flat ground with convex edge
OAL is about 14.5"
Handles are walnut with lanyard tube pins
Knife is distal tapered blade and tang

This thing keeps chopping its way through some old dry 2x4's and keeps shaving my gnarly arm hairs. It is going to the woods this week to do some mayhem testing. Now I just wish I did the handles in g10.

I like this one so much that I started a whole family of them in different sizes. I now have an official new obsession with this concept and shape!

Sweet looking design. Send that bad boy my way, I promise I will treat it nice!

That looks to be a real beast of a chopper and I have no doubt it gets the job done.

Nice! Add an inch or so in length, clean up that choil so the entire cutting edge is useable, and give us a price!
