I had shown this baby here when I started working on it, a while ago, and I finally managed to finish it today. This chopper was thoroughly tested and I am very, very satisfied by the way the whole project turned out.
It has 14 3/4" with a blade lenght of 10", made of 1/4" thcik 5160 stock, with very little taper on the blade and a lot on the handle, what makes it quite suitable for chopping. Balance point is about two inches away from the handle. It was selectively heat treated by bladesmith Ariovaldo Lopes and I put an acid etched finsih on it to show up the nice temper line - it really screams at you! The blade has my new FFC grind (a full flat on one side, sharpened on one side) and is rounded on the back and the botton close to the handle for comfort of the user.
The handle is made of ebony slabs rounded and slightly flared towards the butt, wrapped with genuine dark blue Japanese ito. After it is resin soaked, the ito will get darker butit will still be contrating against the black ebony backgorund.
Some projects are specially satisfying to the maker - this one was in this category for me.
Let me know what you think, guys!

Astonishing. The hamon is beautiful.
Shape:
this is the profile very similar to what i was thinking to make one for myself.
I was not sure about the handle shape, and voila, here it is... :)

Thanks for your comments, gentlemen.
Galladuin, the whole design flowed very nicely and has an excellent balance - it will work for you.
Mongo-Man, please e-mail me at ivan@bladebazar.com for more information.

IG - as a matter of fact, I was trying to make a khukuri, but ground the wrong side... my Portuguese heritage, you know.:p
Today, if the resin soaking is done I´ll take her to a local saddle amker for a good black leather sheath - another first for one of my knives, since all I have used so far is Kydex.

That is one wicked-looking chopper Ivan - well done! I like it a lot. :)

If that is true, I wonder how you got this old without killing yourself, sacana!!!

Looks great, should be very comfortable to use, and make a great chopper. I've always liked the way the diamond pattern cord wrap feels in the hand.
