I love the design of the Chevalier. Because they all have black hardware, I'll go with the black G-10 for now.

I would otherwise choose wood or Micarta but I don't like how they look with the clip, liners, and hardware being black. At least with the Saakshi, there was an option for swapping parts. Seriously, look how good your wood looks with non-coated parts. I am really hoping that the Chevalier does well and gets additional releases in wood and/or Micarta with non-coated parts.

Well, I kept asking for a sheepsfoot like your Altus (basically half sheep already tbh) and Conspirator, and you do it, and it looks great, and the name is nice, as good or better than Altus and far superior to 'Conspirator'.

It's better than 'Stabmaster 3000' but still feels a bit greasy.

So anyway I done ordered myself a Chevalier because it's perfect

PS- The Mini Sandbar looks lovely too, if you're gonna do a tanto or a recurve, make them cool and interesting and useful, like the Mini Sandbar!

Well, the mail came early and I couldn't resist. I've been carrying this guy since lunch.

BTW, this is my absolute favorite blade finish. The sparkly stone wash looks great in the sun and hides wear better than other finishes.

Hows the action and lock stick? I was going to get one but decided to hold off since the conspirator hasn't worn in yet, my altus is perfect and so is my malibu.
Trying to slow down the knife purchases a bit 😆

On deployment, it doesn't have the crisp break of a strong detent on liner or frame locks. It feels a lot like deploying flipper knives with axis-style locks. Thankfully, the geometry of the flipper is pretty good.

With the button depressed and the blade swinging back and forth, I can feel feedback from the bearings that I don't like. Of course, this knife is brand new and hasn't undergone "new knife orientation". Lots of knives are like this from the box and will smooth up from either cleaning and lubing or just breaking in over time. I'm hoping to put this through orientation either tonight or tomorrow. I'll post about it here and in the disassembly picture thread when I do.

Lock stick is a thing here but I don't know that it should be viewed in the same way that it usually is for liner or frame locks. Pressing the button, force builds up and breaks with a "ting". Then the blade can fall shut. Much like my experience with axis-style locks, there can be a little bit of a hiccup at the point of closure depending on where my fingers are on the lock and if it bounces a little off the stop pin as I'm releasing. I'm curious to get an inside look and will know more then. (My Conspirator is similar but it too is awaiting "new knife orientation". My tinker time has been a little limited lately.)

Mine has a pretty good detent for a non-liner/framelock, but it's definitely not quite as crisp and excellent as an equivalent quality liner or framelock. It's one of the better button locks I've tried, but I'm still getting to know it.

Okay. I finally got a chance to take my Chevalier apart. There was a little bit of gunk and a few flecks of the liner coating in the action. Cleaning that out and properly lubricating it definitely improved things. Unfortunately, there is another issue...

Take a look here. Notice the divots along the race for the bearings. These cause a stop-start in the action. I don't know if it makes any difference but the edge for the thinner part of the button looks a little rougher than what I've come to expect from Civivi. While the local rep can see it here, I'll also be emailing customer service on this one.

I'm new to this forum, and to CIVIVI/WE knives, but I've bought 12 CIVIVI knives over the last few weeks and have been impressed by them all. The Mini Sandbar is one of my favorites. It's a beautiful design and handles really well. So glad that it is a sub 3" blade so I can put it into my EDC rotation.

Almost ordered a chevalier today, but went with the conspirator first. Will most likely get the other at a later date depending on how i feel about the conspirator.

I've been trying to work in my conspirator button, releasing the blade and button and wristing it to lock up hard.
Some odd results. When I use the flipper tab and a little wrist the button has no slick.
Just using the tab with good force button sticks. Kind of a goldilocks situation 🤔

Have you taken it apart to look at the mechanism?

Also, have you cleaned up the internals and hit them with a good lube? There was a little bit of funk in mine which looked like flakes from the scale coating. Doing this slicked it up nicely, but the button still involved the building of tension and the breaking of that tension with a "ting" sound.

The particular issue affecting my knife does not affect the button. I'm wondering if this is just how they are, but we'll see as more data points roll in.
