This announcement was made back in early June during the CKCA annual banquet at Blade Show in Atlanta and to our general membership shortly afterwards, however I thought an announcement to the custom knife community in general was appropriate and this would be a good place to do so.

As many of you know I’ve been at the helm of the CKCA approx. 9 years now since it’s initial planning and set-up in late 2007. While I’ve thoroughly enjoyed leading and managing the CKCA and seeing it grow and thrive over the years, it’s time for a change in leadership. So I will be stepping down as President on 1/1/2017.

I consider this a very positive and productive change as our organization needs new blood so to speak and will benefit from the renewed, passion, energy, creativity and foresight that our new President will bring.

Ryan Hays has been working very closely with Jerry Fisk and myself over the last few years and is ready to take over as our new leader. I’m confident that Ryan, along with his wife Mary will take the CKCA to new levels in serving the custom knife community. I will remain involved with the CKCA as a board member and adviser to Ryan.

I would like to sincerely thank everyone for all the help and support I've received over the years.

Thank you Kevin for your years of service and getting it up and running, from a basic idea to "the" spot to be on Thursday night of the blade show. I look forward to see our growth in up coming years.

Kevin thanks for all you do for the world of custom knives and all the hard work you have put into the CKCA. I think Ryan is going to do a great job his passion for custom knives alone makes him a great choice to take the group in the future

Kevin, I have always admired your work. Truly a pioneer, and the CKCA wouldn't have formed the way it did without your relentless support.

I look forward to your participating without having to manage. Say "Ahhhhhhhh.....!"

Ryan, I can't think of anyone better suited. I look forward to your leadership. Good stuff!

Note: Where is the CKCA (sign-up?) link on the forum post signature? I had to google to get there. Make it easy! :)

Thank you all.

Jim

Let me add my thanks to you, Kevin. You've done a lot for the world of custom knives and we all appreciate the time & effort that you've invested.

I've always been proud to be a member from day one at the invitation of Larry Bailey.
I remember when he pulled me and Pete Crowl aside at his knife show in Ohio and asked us if we'd be interested in being members of a new group!!
Kevin, it's been an honor to have you as our leader for all this time.
You set a high bar of excellence.
And Jerry is right - it's the place to be in Atlanta. (Those not there are missing out!)
Good luck to Ryan.
Thanks, Kevin.

Great job, my old friend.
You took the reins and managed to drive the organization though all of the hard stuff to get it established.

It's a fine club, and you really made that happen.

Ryan and Mary will do an excellent job as well

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

Thank you all very much. I have received so much enjoyment from collecting custom knives and the community over the years I feel very fortunate to have been able to give back.
I'm looking forward to attending and enjoying our banquets as a member from now on.

Hello Coop, I had trouble getting to it yesterday as well. Ryan and Mary are in the process of updating our CKCA website. They should be finished in the next week or two.
I expect that may have something to do with the link missing.

Always a pleasure to sup on a Thursday evening with you and the other fine folks that gather for the camaraderie, fine cuisine, and of course the wonderful knives.

Thank you for your devoted service and, yes, Ryan, along with Mary, will make a fine President for the CKCA.....congratulations to them and to all of us for such a great organization....Happy New Year.

Kevin, you are the man. Ryan, is too (there can be more then one). This sounds like a good change in leadership to me to keep things rolling along. Kevin, it should be very enjoyable for you kick back at those dinners, and at blade show.

Kevin,

another big thank you from me for all the hard work you've put in for CKCA and custom knives in general

Having gotten to know Ryan and Mary at Jerry's show over the last few years, I'm looking forward to what they are bringing to the table!

Kevin we all owe you a great debt of gratitude

Thank you my friend

Ryan and Mary are great people and I believe will do you and the CKCA justice

Thank you again for all the kind comments.
To have enjoyed managing the CKCA for so long and then stepping down on such a positive note is very pleasing.

Kevin, you have shouldered much responsibility and done a fantastic job. Big shoes to fill but I'm sure Ryan will be up to the challenge. Look forward to next/this year.

Thank you Kevin for your dedication and hard work over the duration of your tenure. We owe you our gratitude.

I know Mary will carry it into the future in a similar way. Thank you Mary for accepting the responsibility.

I've been attempting to access any part of the CKCA website for a number of days. It is the only site with which I have any problem whatsoever.

Is anyone experiencing similar problems?
