This is actually a small handful of questions regarding the new clip on Sebenzas.

Am I correct in understanding that the cut-out on the slab, (under the clip) was designed to provide more clearance for clothing and that the new clip was, in part, designed for the same purposes and that the "new" slabs are sans cut-out, which is to say that they are really the "old" slabs and that the additional clearance is gained with the "new" clip thereby negating the need for the cut-out?

With that backdrop, how is everyone finding the "new" clips working with the cut-out slabs?

Check my post "Handle Cutout And Clip", it will tell you the trouble I had.

You seem to have the story correct in my book...It is my understanding that the new Sebenza's no longer have the cutout in the handle because of the new clips. But there is still quite a few left so both will be shipped out until all the cutout ones are gone.

After the little modification on mine it really works great now!

Before I did it, the new clip wasnt any better than the old style.

I just received my new clip a few days ago for my small sebenza born 2-16-2000. It works fine with the "recessed slab" as you call it. Mine didn't look at all like the pics from Kdarmys post. Worked great on jeans but I doubt the new bend will catch on dress pants. Looks good too!

Keith: Caught your post; inspired me to post mine. Too bad CRK couldn't come up with a "retro-clip" which could combine a clip and a cut-out "filler-upper" all in one.

I use the new clip on my small CGG Rising Moon with the cutout. Clip works fine. I can even keep the knife in my scrubs shirt pocket and the knife will not fall out when I bend over. I find the new clip works flawlessly with the cutout.

I know this is an old thread but I just ordered one of the "new" clips from CR. My large Sebenza was made in August of 1998. It DOES NOT have the so-called "cutout" or recessed area under the clip. So I guess the older ones didn't have it, the newer ones do, and now the REALLY newer ones won't again. Hm-m-m, interesting!

General:
It's hard to believe that your's has the old clip. Did you get it from a private party? Is there a small recess under the clip? You can order a new style clip directly from CRK. I think they are $10.00 plus shipping. You might want to contact the person you bought it from. I can't imagine that it came that way originally.

Actually, the date, (March 29) is about right for the old style clip. The new ones didn't start showing up til a couple of months later.

I ordered a dozen of them right after I found out about them and they shipped pretty quick. the order came in the middle of July so that puts the intro of the new clips around June.

The price of the new clips from CRK is $10.50 plus post.

Sooooo, the "new" clip, (besides just being better), has a shape that provides more clearance for the edges of pockets on clothing. In other words, it acoomplishes what the "cut-out" under the "old" clips was intended to do; which is to say that the new clip now allows for the "old" slab so that the the "newest" variant (no Busseish pun intended) has the "new" clip with the "old" slab.

Guess the perfect folder is not so much of an event as it is a process.
