Back in the fall, I started fooling around with a design for a sheath carry system.
Often I am afield with a pack, and a knife on the belt becomes hard to access, or is in the way of the pack waist belt.
I also like to hunt in swamps, and I wanted a way to carry the knife higher.
Thirdly, I wanted to have the ability to wear the sheath in either a dangler, (sheath hanging below the belt) or a baldric carry position.
A leather maker out in Texas, Dwayne Puckett of Armoralleather said he would tackle the project.
He has pretty well nailed the concept I wanted. He had a ESEE 4 to work with, and he made me a Randall style pouch sheath and the belt carrier as well as the baldric strap.
The sheath will fit either carry method. I can wear the sheath on the strong or weak side, with both carry methods. Interchangeable. Any additional knives I send him for the same style sheath, will fit either carry method as well.
Dwayne's work is fantastic. I went with no ornamentation. He does beautiful design and embellishment work, but the project was already getting spendy.
In the near future, I'll have him make at least three more custom fit Randall style pouch sheaths for my Busse CABS, my Spyderco BushcraftUK knife, and for my ESEE 5.

I'd like to SEE this on someone. The idea seems sound.

I just got the leather the other day, and the new camera yesterday. I"ll try to get a shot of me wearing the belt attachment and the strap.
All I gotta do is figure out the new camera.

I was camping in South Central Florida this weekend, and got a chance to wear and use the ESEE 4 with the Armoralleather sheath.
Main activities with the group was fishing, canoing and kayaking this trip. The ESEE was handy and functional.

looks good but just curious why have it hang so low? seems like it'd just be bouncing around and smack you in the mcnuggets.

Nice leather and knife!!

I love your beard sir! I hope to be able to grow one like that some day.

I wanted the knife to 'dangle'. This keeps it clear of the pack waist belt, and it is easy to deploy. The boys are not at danger.

Very unique sheath set-up, but I'm afraid the beard steals the show!

Does the sheath fit tight enough that there's no risk of the blade slipping out at that slight downward angle? That would be my concern with a leather sheath at that position.

I'd be afraid that the knife could drop out accidently hanging a little bit upside down - but I'm always afraid of losing a precious blade so never mind :D. But it's certainly a good looking sheath.

The blade fits in the Randall pouch sheath very tightly. It is NOT going to fall out.
I can wear the sheath on the other side, with the handle pointing rearward. It is more horizontal then.
Here is how the same sheath works with the baldric strap. This is a carry option I would use when hand gun hunting in a swamp, or if wearing a fanny pack.
