Jerry I have a question. Has anyone ever asked for a RED coating? Like a Red Crinkle coat? Does such a thing exist or could it be made? I am a huge fan of Red and I think the SD and many other knives would look Bichin in red. Anyone else feel that way? I mean cant you picture a Hellrazor or a SFNO in a Red Coating and Black G-10 Micarta?

Besides...bacon is red...you could call it the Bacon coating.

KRIS KRINKLE!

There may be a reason why there is no red crinkle....

Probably the same reason there is no yellow or purple crinkle....

There is no technical reason why there couldn't be a brightly colored coating. The only reason why we probably won't see this is that it might be difficult to sell, and some guys would definitely complain that it looks "ghey". Bright red is not a color for traditionalists, that's for sure. But the market does seem to be more accepting of color nowadays. A few years ago there were no green guns, and no tan/brown guns, and now they're everywhere. There are even bright red, blue and green guns on the IPSC scene.

A bright red FBM would still be a FBM, it would still be a Busse, it would still be INFI, and it would still be totally badass. Nobody makes fun of fire engines for looking "ghey" do they? Fire engine red might be cool. Granted, I'm an artist and tend to be a lot more progressive in terms of aesthetics than the average knife consumer. There is a degree of merit to this idea. Busse is bringing bright colors into the market already. You never used to see bright red or blue or orange handled knives, now they're everywhere. For example "hunter orange" is widely accepted in the knife market already, because of its association with deer hunting, as it is therefore "manly". There are strong cultural associations with color that will need to be overcome, but it is probably only a matter of time before you begin to see brighter blade colors.

I kind of like the idea of brightly colored blade coatings. One of the main reasons being that a brightly colored knife wouldn't look "tactical", it would look friendly and un-weaponlike. I don't think of my knives as weapons, and I'm not interested in scaring anyone. There are all sorts of tools used on jobsites in bright colors- with Busse black and yellow being a very popular color combination. Nobody ever calls yellow and black Stanley, or blue and satin Estwing tools sissy, do they? A lot of tools are brightly colored for better visibility, which could be a plus for Busse knives as well. No need to attach a brightly colored lanyard to a knife to make it easier to find when throwing if the knife itself is bright red or yellow.

Word, bring back the camo finishes! Don't tell me the camo HOGFSH doesn't look badass...

Friend of mine took a BK9, stripped it, then painted the blade bright signal orange. It didn't look tactical, that's for sure, but it did still look pretty darned weaponlike :D
