new coatings?

Anyone know when the bk14/bk11 / the rest of the family is gonna start having the new coating?

Is it slated to release when the tweeners do or are there some in production already?

Appreciate the help!
 
Good question, I'd like to know that too. Looks like no one else around here is forthcoming with an answer either. My GUESS would be that they might be starting to make them with the new coating/etchings but there are SO MANY of the 'old ones' around that those all need to be cleared out first before they even start to think about releasing the new batches, and they're probably not going to release the new coatings/etchings on the old blades until the tweeners are released anyways.
 
Thats not how it works with any other product. The new stuff comes out, and the old stuff gets MARKED DOWN....and THAT is what I am hoping for! Since I'm going to strip it anyway.
 
In the Ka-Bar thread "Ask Toooj", I posted the same question not long ago. This is what was said:

The new powder coating is available now, as is the laser marking. They will be on the Becker Line. It may expand to some others...

from what I heard, this coating is supposed to be more durable than ESEE's powder coat. I just ordered another BK2 and I hope it has this coating, if it does, I will let it be known here.
 
That, and the new coating is visually very different from the old coating. The new is textured, while the old is pretty much smooth.
