I found this knife today at a thrift shop. Its new with a sheath. Says made in Japan on the blade. About a seven inch blade shaped like a Bowie. Twenty dollars. Is that good?

It was deep sixed long ago. That is a good buy. Even if it is AUS8. Those are light and fast. Congrats. keepem sharp

Thanks for the info Longbow. I havent been able to find any info on the web. Not even the kind of steel.

If it doesn't say Carbon V on the blade then it is most likely AUS8a which CS does use alot of. keepem sharp

Fantastic Knife. What a steal on the price. I bought one a couple years ago at a gun show for $40. It came with a leather S&W sheath. The owner said bad things about the Cold Steel sheath. This knife is easy to sharpen and it cuts and cuts. I don't care for Cold Steel knives in general, but the Aus8A steel Bush Ranger is a great knife. The carbon V models were made by Camillus in the U.S.A. and the AUS8A models were made in Japan. Good job on such a great find.

I finally can post pics. Heres my finds at the thrift store. A Cold Steel Brush Ranger and a Martindale crocodile machete 1945. Total price twentyfour dollars.

Wow nice knife. I am a fan of AUS8 though. Good find indeed. I just picked up a N.I.B. ODA in Carbon V for $37 out the door.
