new cold steel knife idea

it would look very intimidating and would definately fit in with other cold steel mega folders. it'd be a great tactical folder. i would buy a 5" tanto, pe, satin version for sure.

When the new Voyagers show up there might be a model similar enough that it would hit the spot for a 5in. Recon. Think they will have the Tri-Ad lock mechanism and handles looking like a cross between the old Voyagers and the Recon 1's.

5" Recon would be great, I have zero problems with CS AUS8a, good steel, unless they are going to go San Mai, a satin finish choice would be a welcome addition as would a Spear point option, or bring back the original tanto shape.

I like the idea. I always hoped they'd bring out a 5" [or longer] version of the Scimitar but they seem to have dropped that model entirely.

5" plain edge with a modified clip point or maybe a Tanto with .20 blade stock would be cool.
As for the steel; I don't know. Cold Steel seems to overprice anything better than AUS8.

They have too many giant folders as it is, I don't get it. They are just as hard to carry as a fixed blade without all the pros of a fixed blade. I might own more Cold Steel products if they made them for people instead of ogers.

A pocket machete isn't practical in my eyes, I guess it is for the "tactical" loving people out there.

Short answer: No, I don't care if they produce a 5in. folding anything.

As long as we're coming up with new ideas for the Recon, I would love it of they tried out a new steel or two. That said, I wouldn't pay San Mai prices for it....it would have to be the same price as the SK5 (fixed) or bloody AUS-8 (folder), and I doubt there is any chance of that. Just an idea.

I'm not sure I would like to see a 5" folder from them, but to each his own. For me, the megafolder ship has sailed. Give me 3 1/4" of good steel and I'm happy.
