Apparently, Cold Steel is about to introduce a number of new models. As some have surmised: a 5 Max Scout will be arriving soon in black at a suggested price of $199.00 USD. A 4" fixed-blade Finn Hawk II priced to move, at $269.99 with micarta handle. Another fixed-blade is the 6.9" new Khanjar in AUS-10A, black Kray-EX handle at a suggested price of $329.99. A Cold Steel Recon M1 tanto in black G-10 for $269.99 USD is in the pipeline. I'm most interested in the new Mackinac Hunter folder: available in brown and black micarta, with triad lock for: 3.6" blade-length for $209.99 in satin AUS-10. A 10" big-chopper is also being offered: the Zerscheider in all-black PVD, Seax model. Last, but-not-least is an all titanium 3.5" model: Cold Steel FM-1 clip-point priced at $279.99. Most of the familiar knife-vendors have pics of these models.

A 5 Max Scout would be nice. My wife got me one for Christmas and I have been surprised at how handy that beast is when I decide to carry it. Having the shape, size, and lock up of the full size model with less weight would be great.

The 5" Scout would make an excellent choice for vehicle, or bug-out bag. Combined with a handgun of adequate caliber, or an SBR. It would give you a serious-level of protection. Not to mention, another tool for recreational needs. The 4" versions are readily offered at below $60.00 levels. I'm certain too, that the 5" Scout will be offered at around $150 dollars, during sale intervals.

When the 5-Max came out, I judged it would be fun but too unwieldy for anything practical. But since then many people have given it good overall feedback. Given that, a Scout version would rate some semi-serious consideration, depending on street price of course.
