Hey everyone.. I hope the New Year is off to a good start for all..

Pictured below are a few knives I got to add to my collection last year.. I just got some wonderful pictures finished by our friend Jim Cooper.. It was like "old times" talking to him, and catching up on some exciting projects he has in the works.. We are having an Indian Summer, (can I say that? :-}, on the West Coast, so it was also interesting to hear about the weather challenges he was facing when these shots were done...

Some of you know I admire Billy Mace Imel's work. Here are three new fixed blades, two of them being intergrals.. The scale material in order is Walrus, Mammoth Tooth, and Ebony Wood..

Two folders, one dagger and one small gents by Salvatore Puddu were acquired... I nabbed these from friend MartinR's collection..

This one is a new Chuck Gedraitis "Yakuza" to match an earlier knife Chuck made for me.. This version is a flipper, and is very cool.. Check out this ivory guys.. (I think he picked the lock on Don Hanson's workshop..)

Here's a couple for those who like larger knives.. These happen to be auto's as well.. This Osborne is just a beast, it has J. Rados twist Damascus, and the blade is nearly 5" with OAL at 10.5".. (Dudley, this would be at home in your collection...) The next one, also in Rados steel, is the well know Triton model by Jeff Harkins.. I love opening these two because they just flat out fly..

These two, to close, are classic designs by longtime, and respected makers Jack Busfield and J. W. Smith.. Knives like these folders remain some of my favorites, and I love collecting them..

I hope you saw something you like, and I wish everyone well.. Coop, thanks again for showing my knives in style, as usual.. Nice to speak again when we weren't holding our breath over a wayward package..

Anyone feel free to add pictures to this post if you have something to add.. Have a great weekend guys.

Best Regards, Rich Slaughter

Wonderful knives all my friend and, yes, that piece from Warren would be in fine company. :)

All great pieces, Rich, but you know which ones draw my attention most - the two Puddus and the Smith. The Smith shows how wonderful a piece can look with nothing but lovely carving.

Wow - you are off to a great start on the year!

Some really terrific pieces there, but for some odd reason, my faves are all the daggers - the Harkins, the Busfield and the Imel, but especially the Puddu folding dagger.

Thanks for sharing them here, and congrats!

Great new knives Rich. Coop did a excellent job on that small Puddu folder which was impossible for me to photograph. Posts like this one make me want to start hunting for knives again. Your passion and good taste is contagious.

I was thoroughly impressed with Rich's eclectic taste and his eye for quality. There is a nice variety of differing tastes here, however the theme here is simple shapes and notable build quality.

It was a pleasure working with Rich. He extends his passion of knives to all of us through these displays, and I admire how fortunate he is, and so am I to be a part of this.

I know there are a few others still unseen. He's also happy to have various photographers work with him. Like me, I don't own only one maker's knives.

GREAT stuff!

Jim

Thanks so much guys... BigJohn, MW, Win, Dudley, Bob, Ken, Martin, Coop... I was indeed trying to get a set of photo's to show some variety.. Including materials used, designs, newer and "seasoned" makers etc... Coop mentioned additional images, and I'll show a few to close, and then post additional newer images down the road when I get closer to having a collector page up and going....

I enjoy knife collecting, and all that entails, so much! The custom section of B. F. is a place I have spent a lot of fun time reading over the years... My thanks to all the makers, artists, collectors, suppliers, etc. who share their knowledge so freely....

This Bill Ankrom fighter was awarded best of show at the Solvang show in 2007... Gil Rudolph pulled out all the stops when he embellished this knife... So much to see.. The sheath is a concealed shoulder type.....

A pair of "old school" switchblades from Ken Steigerwalt..

Another classic design by Frank Centofante... This is the Loveless model folder in stag... As most know, both Frank and engraver Dan Wilkerson have passed... This image is from a previous session with Coop earlier in the year....

Schuylar Lovestrand will always be well represented in my collection.. I'm no expert, but I put him among the best grinders past or present.. These knives have been shown before, but they were my own photo's and nowhere near as clear, and tasteful as Jim C.'s The hunter has very unusual ivory, and the large bolster was deeply engraved in a classic scroll by Sam Alfano.. The fighter is very large, and is handled in walrus tusk ivory.. The blade is mirror finished with the flats left in satin.. I love the contrast... Enjoy, and best all on Super Bowl Sunday.... Congratulation for the great collection Rich. With special affection I look at the small of Salvatore engraved by Gianni, both are two dear friends. Thank for showing it. Ciao Tore

Wow! A stellar year of collecting represented here. I truly enjoyed moving through such a diverse and quality set of knives. Rich, great selections for your collection and thank you Coop for enabling us to enjoy this thread with your images.

well everyones are pure art and any colector be proud to own, but this wonderfull lovestrant it's realy an eyecandy, i love that minimal overview

Superb collection. You have a refined taste. I'm guessing you live in Santa Barbara or Monteceito (*_*). We visited both last year, and even the homeless guys in Santa Barbara were wearing Rolexes and using iPhones.

I really like these, the lines, the execution and the makers themselves. Warren is a class act. He worked on a knife I picked up on the secondary market and brought it back up to showroom quality. He is right up there with the best of the makers, so versatile and just about everything he does is "right".

Hope you continue to have a superb year, amigo.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

I never cease to be both amazed and full of joy at looking at the knives in your incredible collection Rich. A book based on your collection would be something truly wonderful. Thanks for sharing all the great knives you have and continually add to your superb collection.
