Im new to higher end knife collecting, ive collected knives since i was ten, but only recently uave i begun buying quality knives. Like many people, i started out buying kives that i thought were cool but were usually crap. Tactical knives with useless features and terrible construction. I use knives daily, and when i worked as a plumber installing water, gas, and sewer lines underground i started to notice the difference between a quality knife and a crappy knife. Ive been looking for a good way to store my knives while displaying them in a classy way, and found some cool cases for sunglasses that i think work great. There is another one that has 16 slots, by adding a second layer. Ive been reading these forums for quite a while and thought this would be a good time to post for the first time. These are all my folding knoves that i have so far. Not a great collection but its a start, and i absolutely love that ZT. Its a whole other level of knofe quality for me.

Nice, I've never displayed any of my collection, which is why I've started to sell them off. If I'm not going to use them or display them, sitting in a safe is kind of useless. Good start though, soon you will be moving up into higher end midtech and custom territory

I use briefcases. I can get really nice ones for $10-15 each and then just store the knives in soft cases inside. Nobody uses a briefcase anymore so they can be found easy. They stack well too.

Welcome to BFC ReservoirDog707 !!!!!
Quit being modest ;), that's a great collection of knives you've got there. There's nothing wrong with the display case you have now. You still have to fill the empty slots and you don't need to be spending knife money on needless things o_O.

Ive always wanted a nice metal briefcase ever since watchimg pulp fiction
I want to get a spyderco next, just to have somwthing a little more sturdy. Theres so many knives out there its hard to choose, WE knives looks pretty good but i am afraid to buy anything made in china thats supposes to be high end. It feels like going to mcdonalds to get gourmet food. Just feels wrong. But from what people say they have an amazing action.

I know right :D cant waste any money on cases when that display of knives at the store is just filled with beauties to take home with me :D:D lucky for me theres a good army/navy surplus store near me that sells some of the mid range brands for competitive prices. Will have to buy online for anything more exotic than benchmade spyderco or ZT though. Which is scary since i cant feel with it first. I could never buy shoes o line for fear of a bad fit. For some reason i feel the same way about knives, spending 200 or more on something is a gamble when you cant handle ot first. But ive heard blade HQ is pretty reliable, definately wont risk it on amazon or ebay unless the seller has some amazing refrences and people who say their honest. Thats what i love about these forums, so much good info on here, makes it easier to make an informed decision.

Welcome to the forums.

Things like food, the mortgage/rent, car payments, etc just get in the way, right?

I've been trying to decide how I want to turn a Glenlivet gift set box (it had 12, 15, and 18 year old bottles in it, yumm) I have into a display box. I may be building some dividers soon.

Enjoy.

box will do...if all your knives are users then ok.

Welcome to BF. Maybe just use the case you have now, and rotate knives in the display when you get more than it will accommodate.

That box of knives hurts my heart :eek: they look so sad in there all piled up. I love your display table, looks great. Yea im going to keep using the sunglasses case for now, looks decent enough and i can still admire them when i walk by and smile . :) no need for anything fancy right now as i only have a few knives, although i have just as many fixed blades too. How would you guys store fixed blades? I have mine thrown in a sort of catch all drawer in my nightstand. I have tons of books on bookshelves in mu room and was thinking maybe i could put a stand on one

Something I've been looking into was display shelves for model trains. There are a few that are the right size to put (folding) knives comfortably in to. For now they are in foam cut outs in a drawer.

I just got a couple knife specific Nalpak cases. Keeps them safe, organized, and you can just pop the top and enjoy. I know they are pricier than some other display/storage options, but for me it's way better than keeping current non-users in their boxes. And they are good protection.

I have thought about stands for my pair of bowies. But I think I'd have to paint my office and get all my tattoo art framed first...

EDIT:
Meant to say, relative to the price of a few better knives or some customs, the cases are not too bad. The two I got were about $70-80 each.

I love finding cases and displays for other things and thinking how perfect they would be for knives. The case im using was advertised for sunglasses amd it only cost 20 bucks. Nice fake leather outside and glass top, works great. Im going to check out youe idea on model train displays and see how they look as well just for future refrence:D

Ive seen some nice cheap stands on etsy, just wooden single double and triple stands. I guess those would work fine. Would just have to stash my sheathes somewere. I dont think you have to wait for your office to be all sorted out before you display your bowies. Put those suckers on a stand and watch how much itl brighten the room post a picture once you do it id love to seem them!
