Hello all, I've been browsing the forums here for a little while and figured I'd register and start posting.

To start, about a year ago my father was murdered. When I was visiting my Mom during Christmas, I noticed his pocket knife sheath in front of his urn and his photo. He was rarely without it, and it brought back fond memories as I fiddled with it. I returned it to it's place, and decided that I would put it back to use at a later date.

About a month or so later, I was up late and ended up watching an infomercial about "Frost Cutlery". I thought "Those knives must be crap...", and my morbid curiosity took me to the internet to research them. After being satisfied that I was correct about Frost, I decided to do a bit of research on my Dad's knife, and learned that it's an LB9 "Papa Bear", and was surprised to see that Uncle Henry/Old Timer had quite a following! Another knife I remember him carrying I later learned was an Old Timer 12OT. He claimed the blade was so thin, that he could sharpen it on the bottom of his boot, I guess the way a barber sharpens a straight razor on leather? lol, anyway, he would usually do that daily, and a child ended up lifting it from his desk at work one day.

I'm going to pick up the LB9 next time I'm at my mom's, and one day I'll give it to my son.

Until then I ran across this lot of knives on CL to start out my collection. Paid $100 for the lot, hope you guys like them! You'll be seeing me around!

Thanks Codger, I've been researching the LB9 quite a bit actually! I think I've read nearly every thread concerning them! It's a great knife, and my dad's will always be the favorite in my collection.

Hi meanjoaquin from Australia, it looks like you have a collection already.
It is always good to see new members... Ken

Thanks koldgold, I've always wanted to visit Australia. Looks like a beautiful country!

I just realized I made a typo.... My dad's knife is an LB8, not an LB9! I'll get pics as soon as it's in my possession.
