What's the scoop, Sal... Joyce?

A day without Spydies is like a day without ... WELL, Spydies!!!

Sal, you mentioned in another forum thread that the Commemorative Worker would likely only be shipped to dealers. I am unfamiliar with how the industry operates in regard to distribution, but I spoke with my local shop, The Cutlery Shop and they didn't seem very clear on the concept either, although they suggested that they get "some of every knive Spyderco ships". So, will they simply get some of the Worker's, order do they have to place a specific order? Thanks if you can help clarify.

They should be available through all of the normal channels. There are just a limited number available.

I can't wait to get my commemorative Worker. The Worker has been one of my favorite models. I have almost all variations made to date. I have the old one with the 2 screws in the clip, Black Ti coated model, Almite Worker, Evolution set, etc....... Can't wait to see what this one will look like!

Sal,

What edge types (ie spyder, plain, 50/50) will the commemorative model be offered in? Also, since you're toolin up to make a Worker model, is there any possibility of a LW Worker?

I don't buy a lot of knives and I'm kinda partial to the no-frills models, because I'm not a "collector". I don't buy something unless I plan to use it. I saw pics of a LW Worker that you ground for a forum member a while back (can't remember who), and I really liked it.

I think a LW Worker would be the perfect general use knife.

Respectfully,

Dave.

Sal? Anyone?

Thanks!

Dave,

If IIRC the Commemorative Worker will only be made in plain edge. The Worker was Spyderco's first knife and is being discontinued after 20 years, hence the "commemorative" model. It will be plain edge because the original Worker was made that way.

If there is no chance of a LW Worker, can someone tell me how feasible it would be to have a LW Delica reground by a local knife smith?

Thanks!

Dave.

I imagine any custom maker could regrind a Delica into a LW Worker. We did't do much in the way of new tooling for the Com. model. We just wanted to make distinguishing last short run of the first knife to have a clip and one hand opening (1981).
