Thanks to Bark River - I made it under impression of what they doing (convex gring, thick blade, A2 steel...).
Big Thanks to Paul Bos who heat treated my blade to perfection.

Thanks, Vassili.

I made few knives before - handles for production blades (Helle, Laury), but this time I made blade myself.

Thanks, Vassili.

Nice looking first knife. Looks a lt better than the POS I ground out.

Those handles look rather large, almost so large that a hand couldn't grip it comfortably. Is it just the picture, or does the knife have a large handle?

Handle is 4 1/2" x 1 1/2" x 1 1/8". It is thick - but not thicker then KaBar. May be it is way the picture was taken? However it is thicker then average.

It is thick and comfortable to apply high force or handle big impact (this is big knife). It is OK with it to pray or chop with all your force possible or work with it long time or operate it in bad condition - frozen, wet or injured sick (arthrit...) palm etc or when you have gloves. You do not need to pay spetial attention to hold it - it stay "itself" even in relaxed palm - it fill completely area inside closed arm. So I did some research in this area some time ago and I find it quite comfortable.

Thanks, Vassili.

Your first one? Very impressive Vassili!
VERY impressive!

¿Do you have some professional tools or did it all with your dremel?

That's also a very fine, tight grained piece of Bocote you used. It really works well on that knife. The handle shape is also one of my favorite types too. One can get a very good grip with the way the curves were formed on it.
Great job all around!

BTW, what technique did you use to get the shine on the handle, Vassili?

All the best,
Mike U.

To make it shine I sand it with 220 sandpaper disk on the drill then by hand - 320, 600, 1000, 1500 and finaly 2000 grit sandpapers. After that I use pipe polish from tobaco shop it has carnauba with silicon. But good sanding is the only key to the good shine as I understand.

Thanks, Vassili.

I just noticed from the first picture that apparently you originally thought about a concave clip point but later decided on a drop point, I think you did right.
