I just recieved a new cqc7. The blade is very difficult to open. When I thumb flick it stops half way open. I put some dw-40 on the axle but it has not helped.

Any suggestions?

Piss on it!lol. Loosen the pivot screw a tad until she's loose then snug er till she's just right.

None of mine will "thumb flick" open, but they do wave fine and open fine with my thumb. I think that if it is loose enough to flick open it will eventually open in the pocket.

Try opening and closing it a few (hundred) times.

My commander doesn't just thumb open either, unless I follow it open. Just a quick flick of the wrist, or using the wave feature should get it open. Like said above, loosen the blade pivot just a little bit, and try to see if that helps.

that ya can inertia open the thing has nothing to do with opening in the pocket,

every single liner lock knife (or frame lock, axis or compression) i own will inertia open.

the detent is what keeps it closed FWIW.

try loosening the pivot a degree or 2 and lubing it up well, opening/closing it should help too.

My Commander was pretty stiff until I had carried it regularly for a couple months, then it loosened up a lot. I still can't thumb-flick it open like a Benchmade, but if I want to pretend I have a switchblade that's what I have my Benchmades for anyway.

Hi all,

Thanks for the info.
the cqc-7 opens as smooth as butter now.

here is what I did to loosen it up.
1) loosened the screw a bit
2) put a few hundred drops of Boesheld t-9 mountian bike chain oil on the pivot.
3) open and closed it a million times.

I can thumb flick like a switch bade now.

I just picked up a 7b to go with my 7a. I noticed the same thing. Stiff as hell and gritty. I just took the knife apart, cleaned it up with wd40, put a couple of little dallops of tetra on the front and back of both washers, screwed everything back together and voila! Smooter than before by a long shot and just plain easy to open. I like a little tension when I open the blade though so it probably isn't as "easy" to open as some. But still easy enough though. Quality is excellant too. No need to resharpen the blade on this one either. keepem sharp
