Thanks guys for the compliments. I didn't want to lose my new knife for a few weeks by sending it back to Emerson to bead blast the bolsters. The main reason why I was reluctant to redo the bolsters was if the knife looked too new when I got it back, I would just put it away with my other 6's.
The CQ6 had alot of surface scratches & scuff marks on the bolsters. It looks like the previous owner may have carried it with keys in his pocket. There ware alot of brass colored scuffs, probably from making contact with the rivets found on blue jeans. Tried Hoppe bore cleaner to remove the brass but didn't work. Just made the knife smell funny
As you guys probably know, I've been playing around with the blade of a Commander. Well, to make a long story short, my friend has a huge glass beading cabinet. I'm not really sure of the difference between glass & beads, but I think that it's just the size of the pellets which are shot out. Since I was already glass beading the edges of the liners of the Commander I decided to hit a small spot on the flat surface of the titanium to see how the finish would turn out. It matched the bolsters of the CQC6 perfectly. I figured that since I was already there I would lightly glass bead the bolsters & pivot screw of the 6 too. It literally only took a few seconds. I didn't do the liners of the 6 as they were in good shape.
I now have no problems about carrying & using this 6; I know I can refurbish the bead blasted surfaces anytime they get scuffed.
Instant new Knife, Well, almost new.
