Just got this from a fella in Canada. BT coated p.e. Now I have to comment here is that I have had more 7's than probably any other model of EKI save for the Commander series. This 7 is absolutely the BEST EKI I have rec. out of the box to date. Extremely sharp I mean right up there with any commercially made prod. knife I have owned. It is extremely pointy too. I mean needle like sharpness but if you look at it it is not thinned out in any way. So it seems to be robust. Last but not least I finally have one that seems to have a thicker liner lock! I know it doesn't make any difference but mental confidence in a knife is half the battle for using it and not worrying about it. You know it also seems to me that from top to bottom of the blade seems to be taller too? No other 7 cept for my 970's to compare it to but this one definetly is all those are for sure. To say I am a happy camper is an understatement. keepem sharp :D

PS even better is the fact that it has no wave!
 
I just got mine from the same guy last week and I agree with all your findings.
2007 dated and one of the nicest Emersons i've seen in quite a while.
 
Hey beats me but they do seem better than any other model I have had of the 7 series save for the 970's I have. Definetly on a level playing field with them too. Although I just took delivery of a 14 pse today. I thought the Commander series was the nuts for grip ergo's. The 14 beats it hands down and pretty much any other folder custom or prod. I have ever handled when it comes to grip ergo's. I love it. Its wierd but I think I may have found my carry combo to the point that I don't know if I could justify another purchase! Ya right, but still this 7 and 14 are SUPERB! Oh yea my CRKT Falcon is the nuts too. keepem sharp
