Just got my 1st folder Crawford-Kasper CRKT, any tips on PMCS (preventive maintenace checks & services)ie care of the knife? Thanks...Drive on!

Great knife. Did you get the large or small version? I had both. Still have the large but gave the small one to my father in law. As far as PMCS, Tuf-cloth should help eleminate any rust problems on the blade-- this is one thing you will want to keep an eye on with the bead blast finish. You might also want to get some blue loc-tite for the pocket clip screws, particularly if you have the large model. Mine got really loose after wearing the knife clipped to my pocket for only a short while. I put some loc-tite on and haven't had a problem since. You'll also want to get some lube for the blade pivot. Tri-flow works well for me. If you don't already have one, you might also want to take a look at the Sharpmaker 204-- it keeps my Crawford-Kasper razor sharp. You might also want to get a set of torx drivers if you don't have one.

Josh:
Got the small (since I'm military, I move around a lot; 3 in. won't worry about lenght/legality)...the items that you recommend (Tuf-cloth,blue loc-tite,loc-tite,Tri-flow,Sharpmaker 204)...where can I purchase these items? Blade/knife shop, local mall, hardware store??? Thanks a lot for good advice that will help a knife newbie! Take care.

Don't know about the loctite or the triflow, but the Tuf Cloth and Sharpmaker can be found pretty much at any online knife store. They have it here at 1SKS.com or somewhere like knifecenter.com. I've seen Tuf Cloth at some Sporting Goods stores locally as well. You can go to loctite.com for the loctite and more info about it. White Lightning lubricant also comes highly recommended here although some people don't like that it's a wax lube. Militec-1 is supposed to be good and that can be found at militec-1.com or here at 1sks as well. I think the best price for the Sharpmaker is at bestknives.com for $39.95.

My friend has the same knife and she loves it--good choice.

Verzejd-- loc-tite or its equivalent should be available at most hardware stores. Just make sure to get the medium strength (blue)/non permanent so you can remove the clip later if you want without damaging the threads. Tri-flow is a teflon-based lubricant that should be available at bicycle shops and sporting goods stores. These products are just suggestions, and shouldn't be taken as gospel. There are many fine lubricants out there. One product you probably want to avoid as a lubricant is WD-40. It works great at removing water after washing your knife, but doesn't offer much lubricity.
