New here. Just bought a brand new CRKT M21-14SF (to replace the SOG Trident that displeased me very much) and the liner lock is really scratchy and hard to close. I sprayed some trusty WD40 on it (after opening and closing it about 100 times to see if it would just rub down the metal) and still no good result. Its not a matter that it hurts or anything, it actually takes noticeably longer to close than it should. I was considering just taking the knife apart and using a metal file on the lock itself, is this a good idea or should I avoid it?
Thanks

Well I would just give it a day or two to break in, if its still like that in two days contact the crkt warranty department.....

and if they say no and you do take it part get some super fin automotive sandpaper from auto zone or any ware that sells 1000+ grit sand paper this is important, use really fine sand paper and when your sand the lock bar (the piece of metal that stops the blade from folding) make sure to match the angle that's already there.

Welcome to blade forums to!

Edit

And make sure to go slow with the sanding..... A couple passes can make a BIG difference.

Thanks alot! Pretty smart. I should have thought of sandpaper:stupid:. I'll give it a shot. I spent 70 bucks on it but I honestly didn't feel like bitching to warranty about it (I literally sent my SOG Trident to warranty yesterday, it was a piece of garbage for sixty bucks) so lol i guess we'll just see how this plays out

Glad to help!

To be honest next time you feel like dropping $70 get yourself a mini griptilan........crkts tend to be over priced:(

If you have a problem, before trying to fix it yourself and void the warranty, call CRKT. Their warranty folks will take care of it for you and you'll be more than happy. The knife you bought is excellent. Don't give up on it. They'll make it right.
