I had one of the original titanium ti-lites but sadly I no longer have it.

I am not a super huge fan of CS knife designs but I have more than a few floating around in the collection, some very special with coatings worn off from being used so much during my tour of duty in Iraq (Carbon V SRK!) and some not so special.

I have never personally favored AUS-8 and if this particular unit is an example of the quality of the upgraded steel models to come, I am going to be hurting and need some more storage space for all the huge CS knives...

As far as this one is concerned, well done Cold Steel! I am going to carry this knife for a very long time and use it a little. Is that ok?

If you just came for pics, here they are:

I'm a firm believer that the older AUS-8 Zytel Ti-Lite is one of the best knives out there for the price paid. Hell, it helped prevent me from getting mugged one night back home. How do you say the XHP compares to AUS-8?

Shoot I dunno. I have not had it long enough to say.

From my research, Carpenter's XHP steel should vastly outperform AUS-8. But its a powdered steel that goes through a complicated process...

IMO it's not hard to outperform AUS-8 with a rock, so this should be vastly superior by leaps and bounds.

I have the Zytel 6", it's one of my favourite knives, but I don't think of it as a utility knife. The extra wear provided by the XHP probably isn't that vital on a knife which might be carried forever but never used.

That said, I'll probably get the XHP model some time.

I concur.

I don't know why cold steel makes a sharpening choil but doesn't sharpen the knife all the way back.
