So the awesome Mrs. SBXT, after getting me a fantastic rifle for Christmas, surprised me with a gift certificate from CRK for my birthday. Since it is directly from CRK, I am considering a custom CAD graphic Sebenza. A few questions...Has anyone used this process? Can they do colors, or just plain engravings? How long does the process take? I realize I can call CRK directly and ask these questions, and I will, but I just wanted some info from the members here as well. Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

Yes they engrave and use colors. They can do fantastic things. Look up the unique graphics to see what they can do. The time frame depends on how complicated the design is and how busy they are. Good luck I'm sure you will be very pleased. Call them Monday for details.

When you said CAD..I assumed something like this..

Dang

I would be interested in knowing if they would anodize custom designs though..Got something in mind?

If by "CAD" you mean Computer Aided Design, the "Unique" Sebenzas are not in that category. They are made free-hand using a manual mill and then anodized by hand. There are no computers involved. The CGG knives (computer generated graphics) would I suppose fit the moniker of CAD. If you order a unique, a craftsman or woman will be making it for you, which is why there are no two alike, though they do have "themes".

The old Legendary Blade vidoes on youtube show the process with Lisa and the host both making custom graphic knives on the milling machine.

Thanks for the replies so far.

Sorry, I was not very clear in my original post. I have some CGG models, and have looked at many of the Unique models but I was thinking about this (from the CRK website):

"How can I get a graphic of my own design on a Sebenza?
Using CAD (computer aided design) we are able to reproduce many logos, simple pictures and graphics that are supplied by our customers. Each of these is priced on a case by case basis, depending on what is involved. Please feel free to run your idea by us – we would love to try to create your own unique Sebenza."

It would be fun to own a one-of-a-kind Sebenza, especially one of my own design. I'm not sure exactly what...I guess that might be shaped by what they are capable of producing. Maybe a monogram, family crest, etc. Something personal.

I had this done for my son's college graduation. CRK said they can do some colors, mainly blues, purples and pinks.

As always it is best to talk to them directly, but I did inquire on this in the last couple weeks and here is there response.
"We do offer custom graphic on knives. To start the process I will need you to email me a simple black and white outlined graphic. Also, I will need to know what knife you want this on, placement of the graphic and how you want the finish -- options attached.
Prices are determined by how complex the graphic is. The one time set up fee begins at $90 and then the cost of the knife is that of a Computer Generated Graphic."
Finishes offered were
Anodized(color)
Silver contrast
Reverse silver contrast
Sandblast

Pricing isn't bad for a personalized piece, actually! May have to consider that, would be awesome for our 10th anniversary coming up next year... Time to start dropping hints! :D
