I've heard rumors that there's a new formulation of D2 steel that's supposed to be super-duper. Anyone know anything about it, and if any maker's using it yet???

I always thought that D2 was nearly perfect already, but this stuff is supposed to be better!

Crucible is testing out a CPM version of D2, is this what you were talking about?

Spyderco's doing a sprint run of Millies with it, thread here.

I believe there is an Injection Moulded version of D2 that will have fewer impurities...if I have that right !

Injection molded ?? do you mean MIM ?? Somebody also made a 'dendritic ' castblade , was that D2 ??

Thank you all. According to the rumors that I heard, the new D2 will take hardening in the RC 66-68 range witout getting overly brittle.

If this is true, I want one!:D

Keith in post #5 gave a link. I think that's the right place. There are actually 2 threads on it--one for "geeks" talking about testing and one for the regular folks. Do a search of FFD2 and they both come up--for whatever kind of person YOU are.:)

Cindylou,

I guess that I'm both!:D

I'm an historian by trade, and some would say that makes me a "geek." But I'm also a hunter, fisherman, camper and all around "regular guy" off the job!:p
