New Damascus small 21

So I bought a brand new Dama Small Seb 21 from DLT over the weekend, and got it today. This is my first Damascus offering from CK and wondering if I got a lemon. The blade looks like it’s been rubbed or sanded down in cdulling visibility of the pattern.. Looks cloudy. I’ve read a few threads here on Damascus CR and the pattern dulling over time. But this is brand new and almost looks like it could’ve been a treat issue? I dunno. I’m not necessarily happy with it and don’t know if I’m gonna send it somewhere. If it has a new bday date, it's going to be Chad Nichols Damascus, if it's a couple years old, then Devin Thomas. From the pics, it looks like the etching didn't take too well. DLT is a great place to deal with, you can call them and see if you should return it to them for a replacement or whether they'll direct you to send it back to CRK.
 
I can't see the blade really well from the pictures, but I've observed the appearance of these damascus blades (specifically the intensity of the contrast) can vary quite a bit. From what I can see, it looks to be a model with more faint contrast. If you aren't satisfied with it, I would see if DLT would swap it for another one and if they could send a quick picture of the one they would replace it with so you can be sure you are getting one you are happy with. DLT lists their wood inlay models individually so I imagine they would be more than glad to send you a pic of the specific micarta one you would get.

I contacted CRK.. they said it was a warranty issue and sent me a shipping label. They say they’re replacing the blade, even though it’s
On a discontinued model. At first I was upset with DLT. But realized they wouldn’t have known with it being boxed up, coming from CRK.

All good.. hopefully won’t take too long to get back.
