Saw this new trap that Dave Canterbury had come up with and figured I'd give it a go.

I found it very easy to make and set up, the only problem was that as I was on my backyard I used Bungee cords the same as Dave did in his video as I have no springy saplings etc. When I triggered the trap the Bungee's decided to fly off....as in Dave's video also !!!

Anyway I think you will get the idea, I'll do this one another day in the woods and post it up again.

The bait would go on one of the wishbone prongs.

To busy reporting you to PETSM (People For The Ethical Treatment Of Sock Monkeys)

:)

Great stuff!!!

Discouraging, isn't it?

Anyway, thanks for posting that, pitdog. I have copied it and added it to my traps and snares folder.

Thanks Doc, I'm really impressed with how well it works, let me know what you think once you've tried it !

It's always cool to come and see what you're out in the woods doing. I miss going out and doing the same stuff myself, but work now keeps me from doing that. I learn a new trap it seems like every day, and it's very hard to actually keep all of them stored in my mind.

Either way, keep up the good work and try enough of them for both of us.

Nice! I imagine this can be used on other stuffed animals as well? :D

Anyone have a link to the youtube vid for this? I can't seem to find it.

We had him come down to GA for a class a couple of weekends and this was the trap he had everyone make as part of the trapping training. Lots of sticks and hands were caught that day. :)

This looks very slick. I like it.

When I spoke with Dave about traps at Dirttime, he recommended carrying a commercial rat trap in your emergency gear. He pointed out how effective and easy to use they are.

If you leave the side branch long on the trigger stick, it would also work well for birds with a drop net. The bird perches on the side branch and trips it.

Good Idea Doc, I like it.

I am heading out in a little while I will give this a try.

Nice trap !! Thanks for posting. I've never seen this one before. The cord anchor helps to keep it simple. And a nice variation for birds Doc.

I've been fairly occupied with other things lately, and I haven't looked at this forum much at all. So I was pleased to find a new trap when I did take a look.

Best wishes .... Coote.
