A FANTASTIC new publication by David Darom, this book contains a wealth of information about Julie
Warenski's knifemaking and engraving techniques, tons of images - and LOTS of stuff on Buster Warenski
and his art knife creations - plus a plethora of images of Curt Erickson knives engraved by Julie.

One of my fav's is the start-to-finish section on a dagger being made, and how each piece of the dagger
is made and engraved. Another is the materials section, showing some of the brilliant handle materials used.

Perhaps the most striking section has an entire page of bolster images, another page just of sheaths, another
of GORGEOUS pommels, another of handles - well, you get the idea - image after image of some of the great
works with the Warenski touch.

I ordered mine long ago, but understand that the link below can get you directly to the website for ordering:

I hope David Darom will see this thread and pony up an image or two to whet our appetites!

Here is one image from the book, created by David from Raw files shot by Eric Eggly - "Roman Dagger":

Hi Bob,
Does this mean you have actually received your copy of the book? Or, are you expecting it soon and you are just building up the suspense?

Hi Kevin,

I received my book last week, actually. I've spent a good deal of time thumbing through it, reading, enjoying the details most of all.

Bob

I received my copy last week also. VERY high quality copy and pictures, and the content is EXCELLENT.

It has been a pleasure perusing it:D

Excellent to hear. This means my copy will be here soon. I can hardly wait.....

For those who have not yet seen the printed book, here is
the full length of the laminated dust-jacket of Julie's
book, with the two flaps open.

All the best,

I thought that this would be a good opportunity to show a little
of what I put into creating the knife displays in my books, using
some of the pages from Julie's book.

Living in Israel, I am so far away from where everything is happening
and therefore depend on other professional photographers to
shoot the knives for my books...

So, creating new FULL PAGE PICTURES for my books, using
pictures photographed all over the world separately by various
photographers is something I am doing nearly every day for
the last 10 years.

Here are three 2-page spreads demonstrating side by side the original
knife pictures and the resulting full page set up I created from them
for Julie's book. This, of course, is with the full permission of these
wonderful photographers!

Creating the final illustration may sometimes take several hours!
Now just imagine that so far I have done about 2000 such pages
for for my 9 books on Modern Custom Knives....

Can you imagine that I also enjoy every minute!! :) :)

The following pages are from an appendix in my next book...

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

Here I used original pictures files from 3 different photographers, Coop, Eric Eggly
and Francesco Pachi (with their full permission), pictures that were
photographed over a period of several years!

Here I used files of the complete setups created by Eric Eggly,
to create this new full page picture for Julie's book.

Here I used the RAW files photographed by Eric Eggly
to create the full page illustration for Buster Warenski's
section in Julie's book....

Thanks Mike!
I love what you do, Mike, and the way you do things, so I have to say
that you, in everything YOU do so beautifully, are to me the Professor.... :)

Check out Julie's book at BLADE and say hello!

All the best,

Curt Erickson called me last week to ask me if I had time to shoot a knife for him.

"Why sure. Sit tight, I'm ready but busy..."

I asked him if I might purchase this book from them.

"Julie and I sent you a personally-signed one yesterday. Look for it soon!"

WOW!

I was doing a studio shoot and was really busy when it arrived. Susan brought it down. "Let's open it quickly, I want to thumb through the pages...."

Well, forty five minutes later I hadn't even begun to absorb portions of the intrigue this book delivers. There are creative and informative pages one after the other.

David, I will tell you I had a VERY hard time figuring who took which image. David's meticulous editing ensures our images look better than ever, and all merge fittingly.

I was REALLY impressed.

I have a shelf filled with David's books. This one hasn't made it there yet. It's still getting airtime. :D

Julie, Curt and David: Thank you!

Coop

My copy is in the mail, but will take a week or two to land on my doorstep. I can hardly wait.

Ah, Coop, I envy you for the experience of seeing the book for the first time...

One of the reasons for creating my first book on knives, "Custom Folding Knives" (2003),
was because I always dreamed to have such a book at home....

But I often wish that I could experience seeing one of my books without having
first caressed every pixel and typed every word in them during one whole year -
before I get to handle the first printed copy...

Since such an event cannot actually take place, I satisfy myself with
the many hundreds of hours of joy and excitement that I experience
while making the books happen on my Mac...

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)
