I need to start out by saying that I love my 20 year old Kabar. It's been with me thru my time in the army and almost all my outdoors trips. It's not the biggest badest blade out there but in the right hands it's an awsome knife. I know it's capabilities and have managed to do tremendous things with this knife without breaking it.

Now for the new tanto...what caught my eye was the taller grind and that the blade didn't have a fuller. These are the two things I wished were different on my old Kabar. When I opened the priority mail package today I was pleased to see that this knife does in fact have a much taller grind and a little more heft. The edge is thin just like I prefer and razor sharp.

I haven't tried cutting anything but I have used enought blades to know that this one has the edge that should cut wood very well, just like a Mora does.

I was going to cut off the top section of the double guard but I'm going to keep it as is. The sheath that comes with it is awsome too and it uses the full guard to lock the knife into the sheath. Very nicely designed and built. Overall I think this new Kabar is going to be a great knife!

Sorry, no pics because my wife has my camera but here's the stock photo...

The cutting edge on this tanto is better than on the regular Kabar. This edge is thinner and the secondary grind is minimal. It's very close to the edge that I remember my Camillus Becker knives having.

I removed the nylon belt loop and tied some paracord to make the belt loops and fits a 1.5" belt perfectly. This way the sheath doesn't lift when you draw the knife.

I love the knife and I love the sheath!
