new design - elvish sword?

Here's a new design I sketched up. Thoughts?

As you can see, I can't decide whether I want to do a spear point or have it be more concave, like a scimitar. I think I like the looks of the rest of it.

I like the look of the clip(?) as a flat line, or a very shallow concavity. That way you have the versatility of an acute point for thrusts on an essentially slashing weapon, and it contrasts well against all the other curved and flowing lines. Plus it puts most of the mass right behind your point of percussion. I like that it manages to have that sweeping elvish aesthetic without seeming too delicate (more in the dwarf camp myself). I've seen some of your other pieces on here...you could really make that work. Some bright brass or copper accents, an acid etch all along the spine and some bright hollow ground bevels would make that thing shine like a dime in a goats ass. Hope we get to see the real thing soon.

Thanks for the feedback. This may have some vines etched into the bevels. I'll decide what to use for pommel and bolster material when I plan the weighting. I'm likely to do some sort of light wood for the handle, so copper might go nicely if I can find some that's thick enough and not too expensive, or I may use steel or even wood, depending on where I need weight. Decisions, decisions. This one isn't going to happen for a while. I still haven't even gotten back the last batch of blades from heat treat, and I'll need to sell some of those to fund the materials for the next batch, but I think I want to do a few fantasy blades.

This will be done in CPM 3V.

It's a lot like the Filipino style sword I posted, under "new forged sword." It's a good design, that type of tip makes it both a good chopper and a stabby blade as well. The longer handle gives good control and better chopping power.

Yeah, I see what you mean about the tip profile. I think this is going to be more slender, and also longer, and with a more pronounced recurve. Also different guard style and handle design. This one will be pushing 36" OAL.

This design will challenge your abilities as a knife and sword maker. I complement you for making what inspires you.

Thanks Dan! I try to learn something new with every project I do. I just got a start on a sword involving my first milled guard slot and pommel, in fact.
