I started working on this idea for a friend of mine that is a chef. He would putting his clean hands in his dirty pockets to get a fold that he used for opening packaging, So I came up with a knife that would fit in the thermometer pocket of his chef's jacket. After finding it very handy to carry in my pocket and pack I am working on a full tang version with a belt clip, this one is held in the pocket by a magnet embedded in the sheath. It has tested well but before I made a batch I thought I would take the chance to get some peer review, so what do y'all think.

it is 8.8"long x 0.8" wide x0.4 thick when closed
the handle is 3.5" long
the blade is 1/16 x 3.2 x 0.5" (the sheath is much longer then the blade so that it would bottom out in his jacket pocket)

Thank you for your time

Dan

it is held in the sheath by the same magnet that holds it in the pocket. I don't member the exact hold strength, but I can hold it up side down and shake it.

I'm digging it. Finally someone making a knife that's not trying to appeal to the "hard use" crowd but to people like me who want to cut something. 1/16"?...yes please. :D Tagged to see where the project goes.

I like it -- nice use of color on the 2 different woods, too.
looks like it would make a great "traveling steak knife" as well.

Reminds me of the little paring knives the asian ladies would bring to work to cut up fruit. Only classier.

I could see that being a very popular little item amongst pro kitchen folk! Nice design!:thumbup:

so I have ben playing with some synthetics both to make it thiner and because the synthetics will hold a threaded fastener better. This one is black and blue G-10 with a blue fiber liner and belt clip.

Looks neat! I wish I were a cook with a thermometer pocket, so I could test one out for you! As it stands, I'm an electronics tech with a pencil pocket... ;)

That's a beauty! Myself and a co-worker would be happy to put a pair of them through the daily kitchen paces for you! Please pm me with details!

Just gonna ask, mebbe not a 2-tone look for the "why no officer, that's just a piece of wood in my pocket" look?

Great looking design! Looks like it would slide right into one of my uniform pen pockets.

I am currently working a batch in 0-1 and have a few that are not spoken for if any one interested please send pm. As always thank you for your interest. I have a third stile I have mocked up an I like it I think will save a blade from this batch I will post it hear when it is ready

Nice design! Excellent idea and execution. I am curious as to how you used the magnets for retention and attaching to the pocket.

BTW I also have dyslexia, fortunately it is very mild. I found that a series of four digits give me the most problems. I often switch the middle two or last two (think phone numbers).

the magnet embedded in the sheath hold the blade in, a second magnet (embedded in an ornament) on the out side of the pocket is drawn to the sheath magnet and help hold the sheath in the pocket
