well i just got my new 9"disk grinder that i had rob assemble. any pointers on how to use this would be greatly appreicated. i have never used one before. i got a GE 1 1/4 hp v/s reverseable from the surplus center and had rob put on of beveled 9" disc's on it. any help?

How much was the VS motor Laurence? I'm thinking of buying one, in fact I called surplus center today about a $49.95 VS motor that they had a few months ago but they were sold out.

The Frink disc is a great tool. I hooked mine up to an old motor I found in the trash and have a large pulley on it to reduce the speed down to about 200 rpm. I use it all the time for flattening steel and polishing titanium. I just put a LIGHT misting of spray adhesive on the back of various grits of sandpaper. After placing on the disc I cut it round using a razor blade. I have heard some folks saying that they clean up flat grinds on it but I have not tried that myself, at least not successfully.

In an article in a recent KI, the author described his method of using magnetic face plates to allow changing grits more easily. I thought this a great idea, and will incorporate it should I ever be so lucky as to have a disk grinder of my own!
