Pretty awesome piece - come to daddy! :D  ;)

This is a leaf shape dagger with incised ebony handle. The blade is forged for 1095 high carbon steel and selectively heat treated and polished to show a saka choji style hamon. The blade is 9.375" to the guard and 15" overall. The fittings are iron with gold plated seppa and shakudo spacers. The handle has a carved design incised into the ebony on one side.

Holy Sh@!
I love that knife. The swells of the handle, and I'm a big fan of "facets" on the handle. The blade is my ideal for a dagger. The guard is big enough to secure the hand, yet not so big it would get hung up on the draw, or be uncomfortable to carry. And the asymmetrical carving....

Sweet piece, man!

STUNNING piece Joss, congrats! How fast after it was posted did you reply? Great snag.

Roger

did you get it Joss? I got the email and just started drooling.

4 or 5 times, I replied right away and the piece was already sold. This one I got lucky. I'm normally not even at work at this time.

Congrats and Deserved Joss
I just poured myself a cup of Ethiopian Harrar and began the day with that glorious piece.
I am really enjoying this series of carved ebony handled pieces.
That Hamon is incredible and so difficult to acieve so symetrically on a narrow dagger blade.
Enjoy.

Joss,

Congrats, that piece is awesome. What the heck? You're like the guy on Jeopardy with the "good" buzzer! :D

Thanks. I was lucky on that one and on the French Grayed Bowie, but I'm still sorry to have missed this amazing Yakuza bowie. Oh, well...

I've told Don before that he should have a lottery, but I don't think he's got the bandwidth to do that.

Thanks. Ain't Ethiopian the best? It's my first choice, but hard to find in the US.

Thats a beauty, certainly a very comprehensive Fogg collection you have going! The Yakuza knives are my favourites!

Ya did good Joss. That is a gorgeous piece:thumbup: I love Don's work but not everything about each knife, this one is dead on for me, I like it all.

Ehh, it's allright.

Yeah, RIGHT! It's frikking gorgeous, is what it is! Good score, Joss.

Joss, Great pick-up. Don really did a grat job. As usual it was gone by the time that I saw it. Jim Treacy

Well, well, well. This one floats my boat as well. Incredible symmetry through and through... with the exception of the hamon AND that lovely flame that is carved into the handle. I love how it is flowing and flickering and not as strict as the rest of the piece.

One of those things that brings extra joy in appreciation. Nice score. We approve!

I just made a major knife purchase...and it made me break out in a cold sweat when I saw an email from Don Fogg in my in-box today....I was actually relieved this time that it sold before I got a chance to open the mailing. That one there is a beauty...congrats on an excellent purchase.
