Here's a close-up of the angled tool rest I "customized" :D....for doing scandi grinds.

This was the one they were demo-ing at the Blade Show...I ordered it a looooooong time ago....and picked it up after Blade. But the Philmont trip delayed me getting to use it much until this week - when I made the new tool rest.

Set me back 3 Big Ones...:o...but has been running great...and definitely worth it!

Nice!:eek:My Dozier grinder should arrive Monday,I like your tweaking of work rest.:DI'm going to use a air tank to pressurize the cylinder,Until I replace my crapped out air compressor.:mad:Belts arriving Monday,I should have her dirtied up by monday night!Congradulation.

Congrats, Capricorn61 -

Tom - don't ask Tom about the "new style"...he doesn't like it!

(read: Tom K = curmudgeon :D  :p)

I do like the old style too...but the adjustable platen (vertically) is a nice touch.

The one complaint I have is the drive pulley moved down...

*shrug*

That is a great grinder for sure, I wish I had one like it.

Have you thought about putting a bellows seal around the cylinder's actuating rod, or maybe an oiled felt wiper? I know it doesn't get actuated often, but it will keep the internal seals/bushing/rod finish from being abraded.

It does get actuated a couple dozen times a day...it's never been a problem with Tom's grinder (old style Dozier)....*shrug*

I'm just goofy always looking for ways to tweak machines. That's what happens when you spend your life assembling, fixing and designing them. Angry calls from overseas customers make you hypervigilant ;~) (I'm sure things are the same in your line of work).
