I've been waiting four months for my Dozier Professional Skinner in D2(my first Dozier).
This knife is the sharpest tool I've ever handled. Bar none. I was impressed with the Fallkniven F1, yes it can pop hairs, yes it is very utilitarian and almost sold me on flat grinds for good. But it has just been vastly one-upped. I don't know how the D2 will match up against the laminated VG-10 yet, but I don't plan on abusing this knife beyond its intended use. I simply respect the edge too much.
I'll stick to my flat ground Busse Ash-1 for brute bush craft strength--- but I can't even describe the sharpness of the hollow grind on this baby. I have been rehab-ed into a hollow grind fanatic...For cutting and general use I think Ive found my huckleberry. My friend happened to be here when it arrived and he agreed it is easily as sharp as a razor blade. No exaggeration. I thought about doing a paper-cut test and laughed out loud realizing how absurd it would be to even waste my time.
I'm going pig hunting next month and can't wait to try this rucarta-handled baby out. I'm speechless. The lines on this knife, the balance and overall feel, the finish, the humble dimensions, the compact + discreet carry horizontal kydex sheath. My lord.
The F-1 is the closest comp in my collection, but if you can spend the extra $ there is no comparison in the overall impression. The blade shape is comparable to F-1, but has a false edge for penetration, more of an upswept angle in an elegant modern nessmuk pattern. For the first test in the kitchen, slicing, rocking-chop and push-cutting were performed with equal ease.
The picture just doesnt do it justice. It is flawless, the grinds are god-like.
Not available on his website, I got it through AG Russell. Its gotta be the closest you can get to the other big Bob from what I've seen.
The asking price is just downright CHEAP for what you get.
Mr. Dozier, you are the man. Props.
