Ok, so we were doing drinks last night and I was trying to figure out someway to mix scotch. I looked at all the scotch recipies and noone look any good. And I really hate mixing water with scotch. In fact Ice is about the only thing I will mix with scotch and that is when it is cask stregth scotch. Even then I prefer it straight, but, I have now found my new scotch mixer and the only thing that still leaves you tasting the multi-faceted scotch.

I just realized I didn't state what I did.

Ok so follow through my logic, expecially after several full glasses of straight cast strength:

I had a dos equis beer in my hand and I had macallan cask strength in the other. And then it hit me. "Wait, they are both Barley....if I mix them, I should retain all the flavors of scotch and reduce it with Beer to guzzle it."

So I did and Wallah, the COBALT SPECIAL. 1 part scotch to 5 parts Beer, so about 2 shots per 12 ounce glass. It is good. But use a quality lager and either a good single malt or a good blend.

It is awesome.... you guys have to try it. No I mean right now, you have to try it.......screw water mix and screw coors, use quality lager with ure barley. Ohh yah......

So...you're mixing Scotch with...Scotch?

Now I see! And I understand -- several glasses of cask strength will impair anyone's logic.

Not sure I have the gumption to try this tonight...but I will try it!

Anyone have any suggestions for the proper beer to try this with?

DOS EQUIS or WICKEd ALE or Boston Lager - summer blend. I just tried all three with Glenlivet Cask Strength, excellent. I hm having trouble typing though.

but if your using pigs nose then try miller or something. It should work. It's all barley....

Sounds great...now I need some Scotch and Beer......MT house....for shame!

to be a true hog you need scotch all the time and beer as well. Come to think of it you need wine as well.

I am going to try the Johnny walker blends with some lagers. I'll report back

If you've tried all three...it's a wonder you can type at all!

I'm mainly holding onto vast reserves of Scottish Single Malt. Pretty much some of just about everything. The product of a long and obviously mis-spent youth.

Feel like I've got to have just the right beer for this. Mexican just sounds wrong -- although I do like Mexican beer.

Perhaps a Newcastle? Or a Harp (if the spirits of ancient Scottish clan chiefs will promise to NOT rise up and smite me down for suggesting that)? Has to be an ale or a lager; don't think the darker beers (porters, stouts) would do well at all.

OMG, indeed! Let me know if you have any trouble re-stocking. I've got...well...pretty impressive reserves. You know, in case the End of the World as We Know It arrives unexpectedly.

look, you realize your like 20 minutes away from me. I have plenty of room for your scotch and we can start early one weekend and throw SHBM's at logs after every drink.

I had no idea...I thought I might be a fairly lonely Knife Knut here in Northern Virginia.

That's just too good an offer to pass up.

I shall contact you after I return from this next little TDY (7 days or so).

Until then, Skoal!

You guys are that close to each other and aren't in one or the other's garage crocked? Man if I had a fellow INFI hog that lived that close, I'd be over there in a heart beat (of course I have no friends to speak of except for you guys, sad but true). My mom used to have to tie a pork chop around my neck to get the dog to play with me. :)

TDY? I'd like to TDY myself out of this place permanently.

I do feel somewhat ashamed.

Honestly, I had no idea anybody lived any closer to me than, say, Jaxx (up in PA).

Sigh. I suppose it's my introverted nature. You know, a scientist and all...

There have been times I have felt that way. The stress, the traffic, the d***** politics.

It won't happen, though. Wife is firmly settled into this place. After all the moves I put her through during our active duty life, it's only fair.

And sadly, my own professional experiences and expertise just fit into this place too well. I can still help 'make something happen' here.

Hey, Dark nemesis is also very close, but who knows where he is now.

Scientist? what kind? Don't worry, a few hours with me and your knuckles will be dragging on the ground. You won't even remember your password to your work computer anymore

Nemmy is still running his butt off, I had a quick conversation with him a week or two ago.

Hmmm, don't recognize Dark Nemesis. I've only been around since September.

I'm an 'assorted Physicist.' First, the USAF wanted an optics and lasers type -- then they wanted a solid state physicist. I'm what you might call the Mutt of the Physics world, or maybe a Heinz 57 Physicist.

And then I got tossed into program management in the national agencies for 20 years. A pretty sad fate.

We can always commiserate. If I've spelled that right.
