Hi there, been perusing the forums for a while and finally decided to register.

I grew up backpacking with my Dad and then getting into woodsy trouble in Scouts so pocket knives were always a thing for me as a kid. I live in Oakland Cali and obviously that means I have to carry something for self defense. The gun laws here are insane, so y'know...knife it is!

After taking a hiatus from non-utility blades for about a decade I recently purchased a CRKT M16Z and am really enjoying it. Manufacturing quality for a reasonable price has really taken a step up since I bought my last knife, although I'd really prefer to have purchased an American made blade. I didn't realize that the idiotic folder laws in my county restrict blade length to 3 inches, and there was no way I'd order a 3 inch tanto tip so I'm currently toying with the idea of investing in a karambit fixed blade since I have some training in kajukenbo, jiujitsu, and a tiny smattering of silat.

:)

Welcome fellow californian.

Read around and search, there aee many many good knives and this is somewhat the right forum to research.

YOOO DUDE

C'mon... kajukenbo, jiujitsu... it's nothing when you own a Douk-Douk ;)

oh yeaaaah baby

I'd go Kershaw Cryo man. For a 2.75" blade, it's quite a knife, and not too expensive.

I agree with MrPres. I love my Cryo.
Soon there will be a Cryo II with a
3.25" blade. They are under $50.00
A great buy.

If you're going for a karambit under 3 inches.. the folding 5.11 c.u.b karambit can be found on the forums usually for a good price.
