Looking for some new EDC folder, something special - just to have a little bit joy in my life :-). Generall use, something that wouldn´t fill my pocket! I tried Lone Wolf T3 - the very nice one, but too big for EDC, I feel. If I could help you, my favourite folder till now is still Elishewitz Ares from 2000. I have tried many knives in past years, lastly Microtech Combat Troodon D/E, Satin PS, but - that´s not it! I would like it to be at least 4" S30V blade, could be tanto or wharncliffe, no serrations (so easy to damage), reliable lock, satin finish, one hand opening, preferably with glass breaker, tip up carry, at price about 500 USD (could be under 1000). Please, something that´s usually in stock -nothing I must wait one year to get it! Please, no Spyderco or CS! I have seen some knives made by Andre DeVilliers - very nice blade and handle, but the screws looked terrible ... Thanks for your suggestions in advance.

Welcome to the forums:).

How about a Surefire Delta? Quite a few people think it's overpriced, but it seems to have the quality and practicality based on the reviews that I've read. I've never read anything negative about it other than it's price tag.

I know this sounds like a fanboy or something, but I'm going to say it. Get a sebenza with micarta inlay. The blade is under 4inches so it won't be a legal issue most of the time. The blade is s30v stone wash, very classy looking, feels awsome in the hand and doesnt take up a bunch of pocket space. Its under your price point, but you could always get a custom graphic or something to make it special. good luck.

Why not try a Sebenza or Emerson CQC12 and then get a couple of 7's to go with the 12. There are tons of knives out there for that price, William Henry comes to mind too. Try one of the online custom shops, which you probably can find link here for them. Blade Art is one I highly recommend. Prompt shipping and expert service. Welcom to the BF's and keepem sharp

Well after reading your requirements I'd also suggest checking out a Sebenza - - lots of options in terms of the look you like, and an outstanding knife from the viewpoint of a user. Plus, you can get one quickly rather than having to wait for a custom. - -

Stop wasting your time and get a Sebenza. The only people that do not like them are the ones that've never held one/used one.

I too really like the Devillers knives, but like you, I am not a fan of the slotted head screws he uses. Of course you could go to www.knifekits.com and get replacement torx screws and it would not be a big task to switch them out going one at a time.

I don't disagree with the Sebenza as I just purchased one myself. But it does not meet some of your requirements, i.e. 4.0" blade and glassbreaker. I think it may be hard to come up with the glassbreaker option on a lot of knives. You might want to give Brad Duncan knives a look as he makes some very nice and very tough folders. The new Whiplash II has a 4.0" blade of S30V, it opens on bearings to give it a smooth opening, and he has gone to thicker titanium liners, .070" thick now.

You can check www.truenorthknives.www and www.knifeart.com as two sites that carry Brad's knives.

Thanks to everybody, who replied. I know, there are too many stupid requests like "I am wondering about some EDC folder" on Bladeforums. That´s why I specified my expectations and pointed out what I like. Please, try to understand the situation in Czech Republic, where I live: there are not too many shops having folders I am looking for in stock and I prefer to have a knife in my hand before paying, or - at least - to know opinions from people with similar "taste".
Yes, there is one excellent shop with many knives like Busse, DOPS, TOPS, Microtech - even LCC in stock (I´ve already bought some knives there e.g. Elishewitz Ares, Benchmade Balisong, Leatherman, throwing knives etc.), but the prices ... You know, our currency is getting stronger and stronger - at the time I bought my Ares was one USD for 38 CZK and as of right now - it is only 18! It means, many knives, that are in stock for years are overpriced - e.g. Busse 7" Basic line from 2000? is now for 600 USD, if I recalculate current rate! :-( ...
Thanks to Sebenza Fanclub, special thanks to Kaizen1 - I had no idea SureFire produce knives. Nice knife, shorter blade anyway ...
I keep looking ...

Have you looked on Kevin Wilkin's website to see if he does anything you would be interested in having? He's in Berlin, so he shouldn't be too far away from you and he does seem to have a fairly wide range of folders.

I haven't held any of his work, but the things I've seen on his web site look really good and his collaboration with Spyderco is coming out in 2008, I think. Sal doesn't work with poor designers or producers, so that's a high recommendation in my book, even if you don't like Spyderco knives.

Two sure-fire knives you can't go wrong with. The SEBENZA. or EMERSON-frame lock. Happy Holidays!

1+ for Kevin Wilkins knives! He makes amazing knives, and is an incredibly nice guy too!!

Also, do check out Jens Anso's knives.

Tom Krein makes some amazing cutlery as well, check 'em out.

BTW, my kids came through yesterday and my son gave me my Christmas present early....a Mcusta damascus folder! Tidy little EDC! I also echo the two previous posts!
