I am really liking this particular design lately. Big thanks out to Todd Begg for some really cool tips on finishing and oil. (try sulpherized thread cutting oil for the lubricant for hand sanding! I still use the mobil one synthetic for a great finish but the thread cutting oil works really well. I can take scratches out much faster now with less pressure. No joke!)
This one is 52100, done in Ed Caffrey style- triple normalized and triple quenched then triple tempered. Handrubbed out to 400 with black ice sandpaper and cutting oil, then scotch bright pad. Brown micarta with ss tubing and mosaic pin.
The edge on this one is nice and thin and razor sharp. The hairs went flying! Never even felt a pull ! Set up in my crossdraw sheath with small tec lock. The chisel edge is sharpened but set up for using more like a scraper/chisel then a cutting front edge.
Thoughts? Dan
