mail just ran and nice man brought me a package from ngk and my new endura wave has come home.....

excellent service from annie and new graham btw, i just ordered this thing thursday afternoon and it came saturday.

out of the box this has to be one of the sharpest knives i have ever handled, even sharper than my former edc, my rittergrip.......yes the ritter goes into the safe for a while now.

absolutely no play in any direction from the blade, its smooth and tight.

the wave feature works as it should and is very very fun to play with............im probly gonna need those bandages that ngk sent with the knife before the playing with it is out of my system.

to say that im impressed with it so far out of the box is an understatement.

much thinner than the ritter and rides better in the pocket.

dont get me wrong, i love my ritter, and its hard to beat the axis lock, i just dont like to beat around ona knife that cost me 125.00. so it gets put up for a bit now.

and yes each to his own, but reasons like that is why i would never buy a knife that cost 800.00 to carry and use.

lol and no i wont be chopping a brick in half with it noss, so dont even ask...........:p

i like it, thinner and lighter and has a better physical footprint in the pockets.

How does the wave thing do for opening?
I'm guessing it's to catch on the pants or elsewhere, I would love to try it out.
Nice pics too, always good to have lots.

I just love the wave on my delica 4, got it a while ago as my EDC and the wave works great- way better than i expected it too.

yes, it catches on the pants when drawing. very fast and very reliable.
i have several emersons with the wave, and have been eyeing the endura as well.

the spyderco wave is much larger and from what i hear is more reliable because of this.

Bkkd,
What's the purpose of that funky hook on the top of the blade? Is it just there for looks or does it assist in opening it in some way?

It's known as a "wave". Basically a variation of the "one-arm Jack" which snaps blades open by hooking it on the top of the pocket, instead of on the tip (per tradition), it's been moved to the back of the blade, where it opens on the draw by hooking the insides of the pocket - causes some serious wear, so heavy-duty jeans are recommended, although it works fine for slacks in my experience.
