Hello guys,

Today my parents came to visit so being my father the hunting and fishing afficionado that he his I took him to a local store of the kind so he could browse around.
I already knew the store from previous visits but the main reason why I went there was to check out the small Buck Vantage Select they had.
It really is something special to find this kind of knife in my country so I couldn't pass the chance of handling it:)
I had a large Vantage Pro once wich I sold to fund something else but I always liked the knife .
So when my father saw me looking at it for a while he asked me if I wanted something from that display cabinet!
"Are you paying for it?", I asked:)
He said yes so I immediately took it and started playing with it:)
It really is a small but very nice one!
Dead centered too:D

This is the first nice knife my old man ever bought me and, without a doubt, the most expensive knife he ever bought in his life:D If only he knew....LOL
Anyway, I really like this little guy and because it was a gift from the old man it definitely is a keeper.
It's funny how we appreciate these kind of gestures even more as we get older!
So here are a few pics so that this wasn't a total waste of your time:)

That is a nice knife. I have one, and like it very much. Nice of your father to purchase it for you.

I love this knife. I bought it at a Walmart in Canada when I was on a business trip since I forgot to pack my other EDC.

Great knife for the cash, perfect size too for EDC!

Dude,

You didn't waste anyone's time with this thread. We're all knifenuts and sharing the fact that your Dad bought you a nice knife is good to hear. Whilst it may not be one of your most expensive knives (by some considerable margin having seen your other threads!) I'm sure it will be one of the most valuable to you.

For what it's worth, whilst I've never owned a Vantage, I really like the look of them. Both large and small...

Enjoy you knife!

Ben

I've always liked the design of the Vantage and thought the s30v version was one of the best values out there although I think they are all good.
They really seem to fit the hand well. They don't look fancy but they just seem to be a knife you pick up and it just feels right in the hand. If I actually
used my knives more than just looked at them and enjoyed the designs I think I'd have a couple of these. Buck seems to have just gone logo crazy on
these which detracts a bit from the otherwise stellar design.

I believe Jimmer_5, Jim McNair designed these. He seems to be quite the humble and quiet guy but I think his name is going to be out there a lot more with the stuff
he has coming out in the Kershaw and ZT lines.

I've found Buck's 420HC simple and a bit lackluster in terms of edge retention when compared to the modern "super steels" of today, But IMHO it is more than adequate and a solid performer as far as I'm concerned also it will get screaming sharp with a bit of effort. All in all for the money it's good stuff:thumbup:.

Great knife for the money. I have one in my pocket right now. Fastest opening knife I own. You did well and so did your dad!

Keep us posted with impressions and observations during use?

Will do that for sure;)

It is definetly more special than all the others despite being one of the cheapest i own.
Still couldn`t put it down:)
Buy one friend, it really is a great knife for the money regardless the steel.

I never tried this steel but from the video reviews i saw it seems a prettygood EDC steel.
I`m sure i will have plenty of ocasions to test it;)

Thank you all for the comments guys:)
