Hey everyone, I just wanted some opinions/help on a folding knife for EDC. that I can modify, First off, I LOVE true wharncliffe knives meaning a completely flat blade with no belly or recurve. But there are few very good quality true wharnies to be had. I have a leek, a Centofante 4 spydie, and my new favorite a spydie Yojimbo :D, I also plan to get a be-wharned eventually. I would love to hear any suggestions for a new wharnie folder similar to the yojimbo, 3" blade, ~4.25" handle, decently wide blade(yoji's is 1.5" wide), a pointed wharncliffe like the yoji not rounded like the Cento, thumbstuds, lock not a huge issue, and good steel higher tier than AUS-8. BUT, since there are so few good wharns around I have decided to find a tanto bladed folder and have it reground into a wharnie. Mainly my focus is a 553 griptilian( i really like griptilians) which I will also get custom scales for too. But before I commit to it I would like some suggestion to a good tanto that I could have cut down. Any help is appreciated:thumbup:

Though a little larger than what you indicated, the Boker Plus G4 might be worth taking a look at. A very angular wharncliffe blade with a nice handfilling handle.

I have considered the needs work and may reconsider it, just need to get custom scales for tip up carry. The G4 is a knife I would get too, the large blade can be cut down abit, but the handle at 5" is too big for me

I would pass on the Blackhawk due to the shitty steel.

Lol kinda harsh. But semi- true, I do like AUS-8 but only in lower price knives, sub$50, but I think the price for the bewharned is abit steep for the steel. I do however own a blackhawk knife and it is of awesome quality, I would just prefer to carry better steel

well isn't aus8 the wonder steel 2 years ago? if that's so it can't be shitty. it's just that there are better steels now. having said that, IMHO the be wharned is overpriced for the material.

the centofante 4 is one of the best ones imop. benchmade had a knife called the gravitator that was a pretty nice wharncliffe but its discontinued and hard to find now.

Thanks guys but the Yuna is WAY too expensive, I have a cento 4 already, and the gravitator is hard to find and usually costly. But I am thinking about the g-10 needs work and getting custom scales and clip for it

Hell no. AUS8, or even 10 doesn't compare to 440c. Which has been around for a while
