Just picked up a mini griptilian and i'm absolutely in love! My first benchmade and i'm sure it won't be my last.

Solid lock up with no blade play in any direction and came shaving sharp right out of the box. I'm not sure why some people think it feels cheap because I don't get that impression at all. I think it feels remarkably strong and robust and am extremely satisfied.

Only issue is it feels stiff, perhaps a good oiling and wearing in are needed?

Just keep flicking it they smooth out very nicely mine was the same after a couple days it was so smooth it would fall out under its own weight when you hold the axis down

Well, I think the handles "feel" cheap, but I know they're practically indestructable in addition to being extremely lightweight. Should survive the next ice age. I kinda want to get into traditional folders, but part of me doesn't want a knife I have to worry about and buy a pocket slip for. So thank God for Valox and FRN!

A mini grip was my first benchmade too, I bought another one a week later and have another one showing up today :) as mentioned, the action will smooth out over time.

2.9" blade is made too be legal for EDC

i like the big one but at 3.8 it is not legal in my state - 3.5 is max in most states.

only few places are 2-2.5

nice knives

Great minds think alike. I have a mini grip coming in the mail today. Found one in D2. Can't wait to play with it when I get home.

Don't let that stop you. A decent traditional may not last to the next ice age, but will last a few generations even with daily use. Most people don't use a pocket slip. If you want modern function with trad looks, try the Case trapperlock.
