Well. The Knife hunt is over, It's official, I went with a SAK Tinker, I'll probably make it my new EDC, I love it so far! Anyone have info about it they want to share?

No info to share.

Other than that it is awesome. Only out-awesomed by the Super Tinker...which I carry. Though for mere mortals the Super Tinker is a bit too much awesome.

:D

Congrats and enjoy. Great knife.

The Vic Tinker is a great pocket knife! I carried one for a long time... until I tried an alox Pioneer. But if I didn't already have a Rambler on my keychain, I would have had a tougher time setting aside the Tinker. Good choice, OP!

I will! They didn't have any Opinel left in stock!!! *cries* But it worked out as Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge sapped some of the budget! $3 left to spare! But an Opie and another Vic SAK are officially on the "Hot List", Thinking No. 8 and Spartan?

An Opinel 8 is another awesome knife. If you need to cut stuff with your knife, and not to go into hand to hand close quarters combat with tank driven by The Thing, it is ideal. I carry one of those everyday too...just not in my pocket.

I carry a Victorinox in some form or another almost every day. They are much more useful than anything else I've got.

Glad you picked up one, show pics when it arrives! :)

The Victorinox Tinker. It is a very practical SAK. Congratulations on your purchase. I usually keep this one in my backpack:

Hard to go wrong with an SAK of any kind IMHO. Victorinox's fit and finish is ver nice given the price. The Tinker is a venerable model by all means, though I've been enamored by the Recruit lately, but the phillips driver on the Tinker may sway me to get one in the future.

I have it but I can't upload any, it even comes with a neat little box, ah the little things. One thing I noticed about the SAKs and Opinels is that they don't scare non-knife oriented people, whereas, a spydie or kershaw could, and they're cheap and nice! Even could fit in a suit pocket!

Just to make it more fun, I remembered there is book written for using Tinker for whittling.;)

I honestly think you could use this thing in a variety of ways, even in a last-ditch self-Defense, take the reamer and hold it so its between your knuckles in a punch....and ouch

The Vic Tinker was the very first SAK I purchased. I like one of the larger "tinker-like" SAKs now better. Congrats on the Tinker.

I visited "that Sevierville TN business" on Thursday. Spent about three hours there. I wanted to stay there until the Knoxville rush hour traffic dissapated a bit before heading west. They weren't so busy so it was easy to shift around and handle a lot of stuff.

Spent some time at the SAK area and was looking at the single bladed backpack knife. Bought some Vic kitchen knives. Picked up a Canal Street Cutlery knife from there as well. Hard to go there without spending $$.

Hope you enjoyed your Smoky Mt NP visit.

You can go a very very long way and not find a better edc than a SAK. They're not just a knife, but a small bundle of tools that gives you options when out someplace and faced with one of life's little problems that needs someting fixed. I have knives that I like better because of illogical emotion based reasons, but none that make a really better edc pocket knife than sak. With both my better half and I being retired, we fly a lot on vacations spending our kids inheritance. Key West, Yellowstone, just back from a river rafting trip on the Rogue River in Oregon. When we fly, we don't like to check bags and travel light. That means I ship a knife out to where I'm going to be. My choice is always a sak of some sort. Fishing in Key West, hiking in the Redwoods in Northern California. A SAK makes sense when away from hme, and you never know what you will deal with on the trip. Having a few tools has been a God send a few times. And like you say, the SAK does not get negative comments and flies under the radar in most places. Not a bad thing.

Like marcinek said, as long as you don't have to fight a tank driven by the Thing, the SAK will deal with whatever you need to deal with in the real world. Walter Mitty commando fantasies not withstanding.

Carl.
