Ive been wanting a new knife for edc and I've been looking mostly a t folders but then I thought about the bk14 and I liked the idea of carrying a fixed blade. I've never edced one before and was wondering if the 14 with TKC g10 would be a good option?

Every Becker knife is a good option for EDC.

I EDC'd my BK2

There's nothing wrong with EDCing a BK14, so long as you can wear it comfortably. Mine is unsuitable for belt carry because the handle jabs me in the ribs. When I wear it, I relegate it to a leg pocket on my cargo jeans, putting it at the perfect height to draw without any excessive reaching.

I carry my bk14, not everyday, but when i do I belt carry it. When I carry it on my belt I wear it in about the 4 o'clock position, maybe a little closer to 3. That way it does not seem to stab you in the side when you bend over and such.

Here is my BK14 with the TKC lime green and black handles that I ordered the other day.

I've carried my 11 as the "necker" it's named as, and I bet you could do the same with a 14, even with scales. I've also carried my DPX HEST the same way.

I ordered a 14 recently, thinking I was going to piggyback on my 2. Now, I'm trying to sort out how I can EDC it! My challenge is the environment in which I work would think a knife like the 14 is a "scary" knife, so I would have to conceal it. I also wear at least a dress shirt/slacks/tie each day if not a full suit, so dropping it in a pocket is not a great option. Right now I just carry it in my bag with my ICE kit.

Looking at ordering some parts to convert the existing sheath into a tuckable, in-waistband carry or perhaps an ankle carry. Also looking at some solid black G10 scales from TKC. I'll post pics if/when I get it done.

On another note: I thought my next Becker was going to be a 15 - but now I'm thinking a second 14!

Yeah one of my problems is that I'm 16 and when I carry a small folder I get funny looks, I'm wondering what the reactions will be when people see a fixed blade:D

I carry a Necker every. single. day. Carry it in my front right pocket, fits perfectly. Typically in a small kydex sheath I made but sometimes in the stock one. The stock one is a little bulky but still comfortable.

If it's legal in your municipality, just carry it.....and let the sheeple sort it out for themselves. Those who know you...will be fine. For those that don't....so what? First time you help somebody out or get someone out of a jam will seal the deal....as long as you use your powers for good. Granted, I don't EDC my 9, but that's mostly because it tends to pull my pants down - which is definitely a no-no. Not even my wife wants to see that in public (or private, FWIW).

I tried carrying my 14 on the inside of my waistband the other day. I liked it because it didn't stick out as bad, but what I didn't like was that the blade was right up against my side. I was afraid that if I did need to pull it out that I might catch my side, or when I was putting it back in the sheath.

I have been carrying my 14 around my neck for a week now,no problem.i like the izula in my front pocket since the factory sheath and the blade is smaller.don t even notice it in there.

I love the 11/14 as an EDC as long as I'm not in nyc or nj this is what I'm wearing

but I recently replaced the benchmade with the Tops Ferret and this is now my true edc as its nyc legal as long as its concealed and it rides in my front pocket and doesn't print so I'm covered there

I've been edc'ing my 14 & then my 24 for over a year and a half. Very easily carried in my front pocket. I had Psyop make me a pocket sheath and added some mesquite burl scales. It's definitely a keeper.

That's such a nice set up man...love the scales...and the sheath

Darksidedenny-
Psyop does really outstanding leather work. He's a great guy too!
If you want one like it you can email or pm him.

I have a kydex pocket sheath, and that is how I edc my 24. I have the sheath rigged so I can switch to belt carry really quick, but mostly it rides in the pocket. Perfect!
