Made myself a new carry knife last week. Sweany sent me some red brass and since I'd never tried it before, I had to give it a go. The blade is cable (love cable), red brass for the guard, the handle is from a 6 pointer I got from a couple years back. Gave it a dose of potassium permanganet and a bath in Nelsonite. The throat on this one is Desert Ironwood with a spacer of red poly-amber. Tess made me one of her "universal" angle carry sheaths. This one is the beater sheath, she's carving me one for the Ohio show. :D

Real nice J. The pattern in the cable showed up a lot better than most I've seen. I need to try some cable some time.

Nice Jay, if thats the beater sheath I dont think I'd be taking the good one out of the house.

Yep, straight out of Joe's truck last time I came up. That's some good cable, forges nice and holds a real good edge. Wish the picture came out better. This one (picture) was kinda quick. I'll take a better photo with the new sheath. Yer right Bob. The carved sheath is going to be a "show only" kind thing. Thanks guys.

Damn it J. You be the man! Real nice job...and Tess too :D

That's really great! I'm not the hugest Damascus fan, believe it or not, but of all the different kinds I've seen I think I like cable the best because it is so "organic" looking. Really cool knife! Nice to have another "beater" to do the hard work with, reserving your "nice" knives for show, huh? Sheesh. :D

Absolutely gorgeous! Love the stag with spacers. That's one of my favorite blade styles too. Nice work :D

Very VERY nice J & Tess! J I really like the texture on the front of the gaurd. I'd like to try that sometime. How did you do that, just peen it or some more arcane process that requires special herbs and a full moon?
The sheath is beautiful too. Love that horixontal style.
Tess, I get a lot of compliments on that sheath you made me, I'll be wearing it tomorrow to the Ashoken hammer in......

Thanks.

Ed, I used a small, round carbide bit (dental bit actually) and a rotary tool to stiple the top of the guard. I'll show you how I did it next time you come over.
Full moon!?! You know I can't get anything done on a full moon! ;)

Looks good, the cable realy turned out well lots of contrast and the stag is just awsome!
