new edc

It's a massive knife, 6.1 oz., but the weight is well distributed for it's size, a bit over 9 inches. I'd argue that it's light weight for its size. Many comparable folder's are 2-3 oz. heavier than it. Mine does take up a lot of space in my pocket so I reserve it for backpacking/ around the house duty.

I suggest looking into the Mini-Manix. You don't sacrifice strength and it comes in a much smaller package i.e. its more pocket friendly. Good luck, either way you'll be getting a great knife.

The Manix and Mini-Manix are EXCELLENT knives!! The Manix is a big knife, and so is the Mini-Manix. If you can, I would suggest handlign both the Manix and Mini-Manix. Let us know what you choose.

My full size Manix is awesome, has become my EDC, fits my hand like a glove and yeah, takes up some space in my pocket but I'm used to carrying a Leatherman Charge in my left pocket and a big folder in the right. Like mmmotorcycle says, it's lightweight for its size and relatively thin. I usually wear jeans so it doesn't flop around in the pocket when using the clip, (a four position clip) use it everyday at work and can flip it open with gloves on. Oops, sorry, you wanted negative comments, I don't have any that I can think of. For comparison, I have an Emerson Commander pretty much the same size and it weighs about an ounce less but I like the extra weight of the Manix. The sharpened edge is finished to the handle on the Commander whereas the Manix is not, so it's a little tricky closing the Commander with one hand sometimes as far as getting my finger or thumb in between the blade and handle which has happened when being careless, not thinking or in a hurry, (I'm all three of those) The Manix is like a "safety" knife for me. The Wave feature is good on the Commander for pulling from the pocket open which I like but I just used a zip tie to "wave" the manix and works way better than the actual Wave on my Commander. I like the backlock over the liner lock, also easier to deal with with gloves on and stays shut until you want it open whereas the Commander is sorta loose and opens too easily for me, another reason I call the Manix a "safety" knife for me. I like the Commander, it's a great knife I just prefer the Manix for what I use it for. Oh yeah, they're both made in the USA. Good luck. P.S. these pictures make the Commander look substantially larger than it is because of the camera angle, the handle is actually only about 1/8" longer than the Manix and the Manix blade is about 1/4" longer and wider.

thanks for the info. looks like the manix is the choice for me. I have had no knives in s30v, but everyone here seems to like it. I carry a leatherman surge in one pocket, so I think the full size manix will be a good balance. Anyone have a dealer they can recomend? I live in Missouri, and seems like there are no dealers near me, looks like I will be ordering off the net.

has anyone dealt with crocblades.com? seems to be the best price i have found on the net. any input would be appriciated.

well thats that. i just placed my order with new graham. now i will hold my breath untill it arrives!!;)
