Hey guys,
I'm hoping you all can help me pick a new knife. The thing is I really prefer smaller knives (I usually only carry a vic soldier). I like smaller knives for two reasons: first off, they're easier to carry, and second because I really don't need a big knife. I've found knives I've really like (like the Spyderco Chokwa and Spyderco JD Smith C58G) but both are too big for my tastes. So I'm hoping you guys can help me find a knife with a: 3 inch or smaller locking one hand opening blade, that is at least fairly lightweight, easily pocketable, fairly low profile, and 150 to 200 in price.
Thanks in advance.

Kershaw Skyline is super thin and light, an excellent knife, and way WAY under budget. I also recommend you check out the Damascus version.

If you can get your hands on one - the Kershaw Leek ZDP189. This model is Ti rather than stainless, so it is very light. Great blade.

Benchmade 707. Totally ambi Axis lock, 2.9" blade, light, thin, probably around $110.

Save a little extra money and put it toward a Strider PT CC. I like smaller knives too and have tested a bunch. In my opinion, this is a fantastic knife that's well worth the money. Best under "3 ... again, in my humble opinion.

Here's why:

It can be flicked open with the thumb stud or opened like a spydie with the thumb hole. It has a choil so you can choke up if you want for detailed tasks or you want to really bare down on the blade or not if you want to reach with the blade. The thumbstuds rest against the handles which adds to the solid feel when it's open. It's a strong frame lock. It slides into your pocket and you barely know it's there Bla Bla Bla...

You can sometimes get them for less on the forum too... high 200 range.

Kershaw Scallion is a solid little knife...I had one, but it was TOO small for my taste, maybe 2.5 inches? Gave it to my little brother.

You could also take a look at a Buck Nobleman. It is not much bigger than the Soldier.

Wow, thanks for the responses guys; guess I have some research to do. The strider pt looks very interesting but I'm not sure if I want to spend that much, not that I don't have it I just don't know if I'm ready for that big a purchase. A couple questions on the PT though: can you buy a clip and put it on or are there no holes even drilled for a clip?; hows the quality on them; I've heard striders are real tanks, so is the pt really heavy; finally, how does it carry- is it like a brick in the bottom of your pocket?
Thanks in advance and keep the ideas coming.

Caly3, its amazing how much this little knife fills the hand, IMO the ergonomics and fit and finish are astounding

There's always Spyderco persistence and Spyderco Dragonfly with G-10 handles. Spyderco Ladybug 3 is also amazing little folder.

Your budget ensures access to really nice knives.
I agree with the Caly 3 / UKPK recommendations and I would add the Spyderco Sage 1 or 2.
But, I have also an alternative suggestion which I think should please you a lot: Mcusta. Very high quality and elegant compact japanese precision. Most Mcustas meet all your requirements. I don't think I ever read about an unhappy owner.
The above site has many good pictures of them, but you can also find them at other online dealers or on the exchange.
For example one of these:
