So I'm sitting here since last Friday on my butt, stuck in the house for the next 4 to 5 week recovery time from a surgery on my right foot. The VA hospital is trying to fix some degradation from the old injury that got me on active duty all those years ago. I don't handle being imobilized too well, so I may start driving Karen nuts before long. I'm bored, and I hate the dopy feeling from the percoset.

But a ray of sunshine fell on me today.

Bladeforum member 1581zebra, also known as a great guy named Jamie, gifted me a new edc. I don't know if he's got a crystal ball, or he's just a very smart intuitive guy, but he sent me a Case peanut. Not just any peanut, but a raindrop pattern damascus peanut with very nice amber jigged bone scales.

A damascus peanut.

I don't know what to say, but the words thank you seem so, soooo, insignificant. The damascus peanut is the one that I have been promising myself one of these days, but I was too damm practical to just do it. Well, now I don't have to. Jamie, you hit this on the head, I don't know you, but you have a great future in fortune telling. I have other peanuts, my stag bone 'nut, my yellow nut, my chestnut bone nut. But this is the supreme nut for a peanut nut. Ultimate pocket jewelery for a 'nut lover. My dad would have loved it!

It was sharp out of the box, the half stops are crisp, but not dangerously so, just right. The jigging is very well done, and is a great specimen of the breed.

I guess it's no secret to people who know me that I like the compact little ones. Peanuts, bamboo fishing poles, welsh corgi's, and .22's.

Soon as I get my feet under me again, I'm going to go gut a nice pan fish for the frying pan, as the note from Jamie suggested. This seems too nice not to use, but it will be used gently and cleaned well.

Jamie, you and people like you are what make this forum the outstanding place it is.

Thank you, so very much!

Carl.

A great gift for a great member of our forum. Zebra, ya done good!

The Case raindrop damascus is very special stuff, and should make that a prince among peanuts. Enjoy it in good health, Carl.

You're very welcome Carl. I hope you enjoy it, and yes sir- I hope it cleans a thousand pan fish. You know those damascus blades are made for using!

Well done, Jamie. Congrats on the new addition, Carl.

I'm very happy for you Carl. Good un' Jamie. I might as well carry on the tradition with this thread and sign my name.

Ash

Yeah, I think signing your name is good for this place. I feel like it's become a family for me here, unlike anyplace on the net. I feel like I have a huge number of grandkids here, that I'd love to take cane pole fishing, or plinking with the old .22. I don't feel that way about any other place than this one.

Carl.

Sounds like that was just what you needed Carl.... We all know you are a fan of the 'nuts, and it would be awful hard to find a nicer one that the one you got...

Couldn't happen to a nicer guy, and a huge kudos to you Jamie.

I've been hangin here for awhile, and it never stops amazing me how many generous, and thoughtful people there are here in Traditional

Good show Jamie!
Use her in good health Carl, may she clean 2 thousand panfish.

Dave

Wow, I just googled that knife, very classy peanut! It couldn't have gone to a more deserving person, nice move Jamie. I would think that should help any knife nuts recovery go by easier.

On a side note, my first peanut should arrive this week. A chestnut bone, cv. I hope it's half as nice as my swayback jack.

Good on both of ya, and a speedy recovery Carl.

That's one of the things that makes this little corner of universe what it is. People who have never met other than this forum are often gifting each other stuff, tossing in extras, guiding folks, hosting give aways.

More than a few of us are carrying around knives in our pockets or have some in our stable that are the most special because of who they came from and the special sense of brotherhood shared. We get few ladies too. Didn't forget them.

Can't look at or take a sip of single malt scotch without thinking of Anthony. Also discovered Eddie White and his knives from Anthony's posts. Got one myself too and it's a fine one. A peanut, scout knife, or anything .22 and you think of Carl. I'm sure I'm not the only one who was introduced to and taught about the wonderful world of Harness Jacks by Charlie. Got a few favorite knives that came from that gent, and one is my EDC. We all share new discoveries and past experiences and often find a common history in them.

I wonder in and out nowadays, often gone for long stretches, but this is home on the net for me. The place I come back to sit around the fire, or on the porch and swap tales, or just listen to few. Some might even say to prattle on.

Good place, good folks, good to be reminded by such examples.

Reading this post make me feel I found here a small piece heaven! fast recovery Carl and a great gesture Jamie, this damascus is very impressive.
Mike

Carl, from what I can read of Zebra's ( Jamie ) post's, he seems a hell of a nice chap...and he joins the ranks of many-a-fine people here.
Congrats to you Jamie, and to you Carl, as both of you deserve kudos for what you both contribute to this great part of bladeforums that we belong to.
Carl...I hope you heal well and strong, Jamie-keep it up mate :cool:

Very nice of you Jamie, you couldn't have given that peanut to someone who would enjoy it more than Carl.

Congrats Carl and I hope for a speedy recovery!!

Very generous Jamie! Speedy recovery to you Carl!

p.s. Sounds like a perfect time for several new jackknife stories, don't you think? ;)
